Whats that system worth, do you know?
Its a great set up and the screen looks mad.
Its a hell of a lot of stuff in the glovebox.
Surely were looking at a couple of grand.

Sorry for the delay in responding, couldn't login for a while??!

Thet pricing the other post mentioned is about right, you can save a few bucks here and there on fleabay etc but it's about right.

One of my big concerns is keeping the steering wheel controls so I'll be keen to see if the VMC thing works.

That's Woody's T30 exy and it is featured in the members rides section of our forum.

Let's keep this topic on the T31 entertainment options as there is an existing thread covering the T30s (including a carputer).

Re: Entertainment solution for T31 - in dash DVD or Carputer

with my T30 I went through every inconceivable variation of ebay headunits, and media players.

At first i had a "all in one super" head unit which had a 7" LCD screen and 2x7" LCD screens which clipped onto the headrest legs so the kids could watch in the back.

Pros -

1. It was cheap.
2. It made it on a round trip from Adelaide to the gold coast and back.
3. It played everything i gave it.

Cons -
1. It was cheap.
2. The head unit was outdated before i received it. It played div-x etc from a dvd, but not from the USB or SD slot (Thats for pictures only, apparently).
3. The headunit menu system was awkward, and ugly. It also had problems with radio reception (i found out later the antenna is powered). It also wanted to rescan the channels all the time - kinda weird.
4. The screens were hard to see, especially in daylight.
5. The kids had to agree which movie to watch, which often ended up in tears (theirs, not mine).

It did the job, but was never going to stay there.

Eventually after the dvd's were getting trashed i started experimenting with different hdd media players. I found that unless you ran the media player (esp the ones which needed 12V and 5V) with their 240V power pack (via an inverter) you would get all kinds of interference. I tried all the filters under the sun but nothing fixed it.

During this time i upgraded to the T31 - having side curtain airbags its not a good idea to have those monitors clipped onto the back of the headrests - so i bought some 9" LCD built in headrests from ebay in the months leading up to buying the T31.

The dvd head unit wont fit into the T31 without taking to it with a dremel so it went on the shelf next to the 7" screens, and various media players that i had given up on.

Im not that keen on having 240V floating around in the cabin so my next sucess came from buying a cable for my iphone, and puting the video out to the rear 9" screens. This worked ok for a while.. until...

The 9" headrest monitors stopped working. It was jsut my luck to be out of warrenty too. The screens would cost more to replace than getting new headrests so neither was going to be an option. I asked a boffin to have a look inside the monitors and he showed me some pretty dodgey soldering in there.. he was suprised it was working at all.

Not having learnt my lesson i bought some more (different) 9" headrest monitors from ebay. At least these ones have all the things i need in them, lets see how long they last!

These ones have all this stuff (Taken from the listing). main things to note are they are selfcontained, dual frequency, plays everything, has FM transmitter, games etc. All i need to do is hook it up to 12V and im done.. no drilling or modifying anything..

Hope my experience can help someone. If i have my time over i would have just bought a good brand named one and had it installed professionally, maybe in my T32 i will!

Re: Entertainment solution for T31 - in dash DVD or Carputer

Hi there !
This is an other solution that has been tested from some members of our club in Greece : http://www.esg1.co.uk/nissan/d760n-2-din-dvdgps-player-nissan-qashqainavara-p-554.html?osCsid=hc2b3om2m64p9is0ivusbba24e4340tr

It is working fine and I thing that the price is ok.
I haven't got it yet but It will happen soon.
I must say that the first who installed it to his Qashqai (allmost one year ago) is still very happy.

I've seen it and heard it my self and it sounds mush better than the clarion plus it can read mp3 among others.
The link is from the UK shop that we can buy it from Greece. There are dealers in China and HK that can sell it in mush better price if the order is more than 5 items.
