X-Trail mechanic, Melbourne Sth-Eastern suburbs?

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a mechanic with X-Trail experience, located in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne?

Ideally, anywhere near Mulgrave/Clayton North/Glen Waverley/Mount Waverley/Vermont/Nunawading/Burwood.

My X-Trail was recently serviced by a mechanic who did an exhaust gas analysis, told me it was running lean, and that he'd need to pull out part of the injection system to clean it. This will cost $350+ because it's at the back of the engine.

I'd like a second opinion from someone who's spent a bit of time working on X-Trails.

Just go to any Nissan dealer and ask them to give you a print-out of the Consult report from your ECU, which will give you a clear indication of the car is running lean or not. The dealer will be able to tell you that as well. It will probably only cost you $10 to run the diagnostics on your exy.

Thanks, I'll do that.

I'd still appreciate any recommendations of a mechanic, though.

That sounds like a serious rip-off merchant. I wouldn't go back.

The lean/rich mixture control is by computer/O2 sensors anyway and they would compensate for injector problems to some extent (which you probably don't have).

A half bottle of Wynn's injector cleaner ($12) in a the fuel tank just before your next fillup (mixes better in the fuel) usually fixes most injector problems - AND is probably what he'll charge you $350 for!!!!

If the car drives OK just enjoy it and don't worry.

As Jalaski said, a print-out of the Consult report from your ECU will reveal all - and you get to ask Nissan if the "Lean" reading is true/a problem/a joke.

Did he also recommend changing the headlamp fluid ??

I REALLY Don't like these kind of mechanics.
