Hi Steve,
Is your 2010 T31 a Series 3 (with LED tail lights) or the last of the Series 2?
Sounded to me like you're getting a bit worried Jalal.

Re:
Not really Tony, but I thought we may have come across the very first case of the new CVT transmission type failing. I'm glad it's not the case.

Re: Suspect Power Loss T31 Diesel Auto M9R
Hi all,
I am new here (just signed up few days ago). Please pardon me if I am commenting in the wrong section.
I have made full deposit/Payment to the local dealer here (Port Moresby-PNG) for a used T31 XTRAIL 2008?? Diesel Auto (M9R Engine) and during the Final test run, the mech discovered that the car was losing power during hill climb. next day I went out and test drive my self and same issue losing bit of climb power (not that worse-engine was ok, no kicking sign etc), managed to climb up on normal D position, took a turn and climbed back, but I shifted to 1 M, and was ok, vehicle did not stall.
Mech said to do some diagnostics, but sadly they (dealers) are still waiting for their diagnostic machine to be updated to communicate with T31 models, this was since 25-May,.
Mech advised that on flat/level road it behaves ok, I also did a test and was ok, braking ok, acceleration top, nothing wrong. No MIL lights came on during both test drive (mech & myself).
I want to take the vehicle out and go to a different workshop with updated diagnostic machine, the mech said its OK on normal level land.
What known issues would surfaced to this symptoms in Diesel Auto M9R Engines? I have been visiting the dealers (since I have made full payment of the car) and nothing seem to progress.
Sorry forgot to mentioned, the Front LH Wheel is slightly leaning outwards.( could this contribute to the power distribution to the front wheels, hence power lose symptoms)
Any help from all you experts out there would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Lance
XTRAIL-T31 2008 Diesel Auto, 72,000 kms. (Yet to be picked up from dealer)

Agree, get your money back, sounds like the car will cost you a lot more if you brought it.

Re:
Well, after that marathon read, I will add that I had a similar issue on Sunday 19 January 2014.
Coming down the track in 4WD mode, there was an exit to a hill climb coming up to my right. So, I turned left onto the grass and then right full lock to bring myself in line with the hill start. I stopped and switched the vehicle to manual first gear and pressed the throttle. The revs sounded right, but the car sluggishly moved forward and did not want to go up the hill at all. I reversed and tried again, putting my foot flat to the floor this time, but again the car slowly moved off and up the hill about two metres before running out of forward motion. The engine was revving quite high, but the wheels did not seem to be engaged. The feeling was sort of similar to driving a manual with the clutch pedal mostly depressed. I tried a couple more times with 4WD Lock on as well as in 'Drive', but no go.
I moved the car off to the side of the track for a think and stopped the engine. On starting the engine a few minutes later, I had another go and away I went, no problems. However, towards the top of the hill (which I had previously tackled no problems), it did seem to play up again, but I kept my foot flat to the floor and crawled her up. After about 10 seconds, I had power again and zipped up to the top.
I'm not sure what the initial trigger was. Could it have been that the wheels were still full lock when I changed into manual first gear?
I will be keeping an eye on this and mentioning this experience to my Nissan Service Centre when it goes in for it's 50,000 service. Hopefully Metro Nissan will be good to me.
