Grr, what a night..
My Exy wouldn't start and I couldn't get the codes to flash so I checked the forum and found this thread. I ordered my sensors from Nissan I managed to pick up a blister pack with the set. Was only $117 too  don't buy separate, they wanted $82 each..
I raced home from work and opened my bonnet, found the cam sensor on top easy, changed in about 5 mins.. My cam sensor had 2 white dots so i used the one with the dot on it and replaced it.
Then tried to reach down for the crank sensor, found it (makes it easy when your almost 7ft tall lol) I got it off with a spanner as per the instructions listed above and thought I was on a roll.. Checked it and seen 2 green dots, my new one has no dots but I just checked it in..
Put the car back together jumped in the car and it still won't start.. Try again with the engine light flashes and it works, 0000... No faults.. Check my battery, turns out it has less then 25% charge in it! Damn it, find recept under battery, oops 6 years old..
Back to shop tomara for a new battery, here's hoping the Exy starts.. I wanna get my rims and nudge bar fitted yet..
Edit: purchased new battery today, still didn't start.. Checked all fuses, then starting while pumping accelerator and finally turned over. Took for a spin, all good, and showing 0000 too

well its been an eventful week soo far.
long story short, my revs have been bouncing for about 30,000km no one could find the problem, then about 5,000km ago my engine started to shudder and i would loose power and then it would suddenly snap back to normal, i was thinking it was fuel related as the fuel servo i last filled up at befot it started was known for water in fuel. i ran a bottle of risolone injector cleaner that i bought from super cheap all ran sweet for 100km then problems again, then my exy died then wouldnt start, engine light was on with code p0335, i managed to get the exy started but i had to hold the key on and dance on my accelerator as fast as i could untill it started, took about 20 secs each time. i searched super cheap, repco, autobarn and ultra tune, but no one had one and i was told it had to come straight from nissan and would take a few days. i managed to pull a few stringss and get one from a nissan dealer without selling my left arm.
after about 90 minutes of abuse and swearing i had the new crank sensor installed and also had a look at my cam sensor (looked alot worse than my crank sensor) im not mechanicaly trained, and i was useing a usb inspection camera from super cheap to do everything. now all lights are out and starts first time without me dancing on the accelerator, the only noticeable difference is that its now ideling at 1000rpm with aircon one instead of the 700rpm this morning. there are none of my previous problems atm, but im gonna wait to see what its like

Aaron,
Do the idle air relearn to fix the idle speed. Make sure you follow the instructions for pedal relearn and throttle position relearn too AND make sure the aircon is switched OFF before doing the idle relearn.

Hi guys
After joining the xtrail forum yesterday, I thought I'd share my problem with the sensor.
After driving down the main street last week the car stalled while at 60kmph. The car bunny-hopped for a few seconds so I immediately applied the clutch, looked at the tacho and it was at 0, then realised the car was still on! A bit confused, I pulled over and tried starting the car, finally starting after 3 attempts of not firing (turning over however). The engine light did not come on.
This happened 3 times as well as just letting it sit in the drive idling and it would just die after 30 seconds of starting the car. No engine light. Looked on the net for people with other symptoms and found this site where people have had similar problems. Was fairly confident it was the crank position sensor but the thing was the light didn't come on (if it did there'd be a PO335 code) and people had been saying it should come on at some stage.
Couple of days ago, I took exy to the mechanic who did my last service and told them the exact symptoms which he was willing to listen to, but then abruptly cut me off and replied 'it could be 50 things, we need the car for 2 hours tomorrow', so I booked it in. Took it in the next day, 'we need the car for 4 hours now because the lights not on and we won't pull a code' :O I declined and said I'd just wait till the engine light came on. 15 mins later I was driving around and the car stalled again and I tried turning the engine over and it wouldn't go. Then the light came on WOOOH!!! Rang up the mechanic and told him the light came on and the first thing he said was 'Ok, I'll need you to drive around for at least a few days with the light on because it might not have stored the code yet.' I told him don't worry about it anymore, that was complete bull. Needless to say I won't be going back there again (even though this particular place has one of the highest reputations in town)... go figure.
Decided to take it to another mechanic, who I should have gone to in the first place, got me in at 7.30 the next morning, took the car into the garage as soon as I pulled up (they looked busy by the way, I've never seen a mechanic this prompt), sat in the office, guy comes out after 20 minutes and says I need a new crank position sensor. Bingo! I told him I thought it was that and asked if it was a PO335 code and he said yes. Thankyou sir! So he said we'll get you a part in today, come in tomorrow at 7.30 and we'll replace it. I could get a genuine sensor off ebay (search for "271487209629" in ebay) for $54 and do it myself, but because they were so helpful I'm gonna get him to do it.

I probably shouldn't count my chickens before they hatch. I'll let you know how the car goes when I pick it up at 8.30 tomorrow
