Re: Giantz Tracks

Okay, it was pretty pathetic but at least I drove over them. Placed them on a soft, sandy track, drove over, both sets of wheels, stopped and picked them up, still in mint condition. Not a bent nobble. It wasn't that soft but I was still surprised the tracks hadn't sunk in more than they had from the weight of the car, nor had they moved. Seem to do a good job of spreading the weight. Certainly not a test in the real world but I feel more confident having them on board now.

Re:

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but just wanted to put my 2c in.

Our X-trail is the family car, we have two modified Patrols as off road "toys" however if we do take the X-trail on a 4wd trip, I can assure you we will be taking a set of Maxtrax from one of the Patrols.

I was a little dubious about the marketing of them, however after seeing them in action first hand, I had approval from the Handbreak to get a set there and then.

We were over at Canunda National Park in SA, and were attempting to drag a 60 series Cruiser up a dune he was unable to get up. Our GU Patrol ended up bogged to the sills, and not going anywhere. Out group happened to have two sets of them, and we dug them in front and rear, and I was amazed, the GU just drove straight out. Now that's no mean feat, when the GU has 6" Lift, 35" tyres, and was well and truly over GVM, would have been close to 4 Tonne. Right there and then, the wife and I both were in furious agreement that we would be buying a set, and I can tell you that doesn't happen very often !!

Maxtrax - Take the easy way out emoticon

Re: Maxtrax

G'day, I'm looking at getting Treds but not sure what size to get. They have 1100mm and 800mm. I know the 800mm pair will fit better in the back of the car, but will they do the same job?

Thanks

Re: Maxtrax

longer ones are better as it gives you the extra room to gain speed to get yourself unbogged

Re: Maxtrax

Good point. I'm leaning towards the 1100mm Treds.
Thanks maxgmoore. emoticon

Edit, I ended up buying 800 mm Treds as they were on special and they store perfectly in the empty 2nd drawer compartment

Re: Maxtrax

I have some 1100mm "XTM" recovery tracks which I got on sale at BCF.

They probably aren't as good quality as Maxtrax, but we finally managed to get the X-Trail stuck on a beach north of Broome and the tracks worked first time. They paid for themselves in one recovery.

In my T30 they fit nicely between the back seat and the shock towers. Easy to access too.

Re: Maxtrax

I don't think Brandy is trying to sell them Jalal, just posting their experience with a different type of recovery track similar to the Maxtrax
