It states that no certification is required for a 7% increase in tyre diameter over original diameter.
So, 7% of 686mm is 48.02 mm. Add 48.02 to your 686 then you are allowed up to 734.02.

Hope this helps you to decide......Not sure about other States.

cheers

Thanks for that Info man that's awesome.

On a percentage basis I guess you could say that the extra 32 metres in each Kilometer is a 3.2% Discrepancy which I thought might put me over but your info there says otherwise so that's good to know.

The 215/70R16 are what was on the Vehicle when I bought it and have no probs with Rubbing or anything so I was gonna stick with that size or slightly larger but then realized they are already above standard

Hi All

I am looking to confirm some things from this thread to ensure my understanding

:  BF Goodrich all terrain  225/70 R16 requires some minor body work/ plastic guard modification to avoid scrubbing

The 235/70 R16 will require a lift kit and some body work to fit?

I am leaning towards the 225 size with sunraysia rims.

I appreciate the confirmation

Thank you

Re: Oversized Tires on T30? Is it possible, anyone done it?

Hey guys. I've spend some good time looking for the info I need in the threads but ain't quite able to so I'll go ahead and ask the question emoticon

I got a 05 T30 fitted with F&R 30mm RAISED COIL KING SPRINGS which makes a big difference and very low cost.

It's time to get new tyres and I'm trying to get the maximum ground clearance from the tyres as well. I have 215/70/15 fitted atm which is the standard. I'm thinking in going A/T 235/75/15, I know it's bold but since I god the extra lift from the new springs I'm thinking I might get away with it. Has anyone tied this before? Any inputs would be awesome. cheers!

Re:

Just a FYI....

After going in ever increasing! circles trying to find mud tyres for my T30 that I could run on road too with care. I have given up. All I could find was Insa turbo Dakar remould out of stock, in the correct 215/65/16 a Russian tyre that was available in the UK with the old BFG mud pattern and that was it. If you are prepared to run 225/75/16 then there are a good few mud tyres available, BUT I can find NO ONE that has fitted this size, so I have to assume its not viable. I can correct speedo reading myself that is not a concern, but telling the insurance company is as they might not like the bigger very non standard tyre size.

So for the meantime... I'm going with the new BF Goodrich 215/65/16 AT KO2, the new compound BFG that was released October 2015. As A/T's go, its seems to be the best in mud of all the AT's. We have more mud than sand in the UK. As a side bonus, the new KO2 is mountain snow flake rated so they will do better than stock summer road rubber in our winters over here in the UK. I have two other cars with full winters on so thats not required of X.

Having a spare set of stock 5 spoke wheels being refurbed to satin black and the BFG go on them in about a week from now. On a red T30 should look ok.

I'll probably... take the Coopers XSTa's off the current wheels and sell them to fund the Insa Turbo Dakars when they are available so I have the AT and mud options as needed.

Lets see how it pans out...
One good point, I'm staying stock size with the KO2's so no insurance or clearance issues.
IF?? any one is interested is knowing the outcome of the new KO2's mention it and I'll be happy to report back.

Now THAT is a treat emoticon
I expect them to make a bit of noise on the sealed roads at motorway speeds.

Yup, I hope so! nothing like the thrum of rubber on tarmac emoticon just got to black the wheels and they'll be on asap.

So I now have mud, sand, gravel and sealed roads catered for with these two sets.

Tyre Porn! BFG AT KO2 and the old BFG mud pattern Insa, happy days!

Re: Oversized Tires on T30? Is it possible, anyone done it?

hai my name is marcel from holland ,europe
my x trail is fitted with summertyres 255 35 20 on OZ rims
looks great but needed some adjustment on the front. the handling in corners is great but the car is searching on the road , and the ride is a bit harder, that's why i want a higher tyrei
i am now searching for wintertyres to fit the 20 inch rims
i want to try to fit pirreli 235 45 20 on the rms
the speedometer wil give a much lower reading
but my biggest concern is can the car /engine handle these tyres
i now have driven at least 6 summers/springs with the 20 inch without major problems
i wil try to get a picture on the forum
if you want to see pictures contact me marcebertram@ziggo.nl
posting is to difficult for me.......
