Re: T31 Tailgate Rubbing on rear bumper

I hope that you all continue to pursue this issue with your Nissan dealers and Hayman Reese where applicable as I won't be stopping until we have a complete solution.

At this stage my service manager is still working towards a satisfactory fix. It is a bit of a slow process but he is constrained by the Nissan system.

In regards to the question of how towbars affect the vehicle in a collision. Any vehicle fitted with a towbar or front bar such as nudge, roo or bull will be affected. The other consideration when fitting front bars is the air bag protection.

Please continue to pursue a suitable solution to this problem.

Re: T31 Tailgate Rubbing on rear bumper

I have just contacted the Hayman Reese Customer Care line and asked if I could talk to somebody in the technical department. The customer care person couldn't put me through but appeared quite knowledgeable and logged my call.

I was informed that the Nissan towbar was not the same as the Hayman Reese but I informed them that members of our forum had compared and they appeared identical. To save debate on that issue I indicated that members with the genuine Hayman Reese towbar had the same bumper misalignment problem .

I was informed that there were no known issues with the Nissan Xtrail T31 Hayman Reese towbar (02465R). I indicated that if this was the case it may be of interest for Hayman Reese to be made aware of the problem.

I provided some details of the problem, my email, mobile and a note to indicate that I could provide some photos demonstrating the problem if they contacted me.

In regards to the Nissan towbar I was informed that the design was provided and owned by Nissan. This seems to differ from other information we have received but that is what I was told.

The Hayman Reese Customer Care number is 1800 812 017 and then selected option 4.

Re: T31 Tailgate Rubbing on rear bumper

Received email from Hayman Reese requesting information.

I have forwarded photos and also advised that there was a known member with a Hayman Reese towbar fitted that contacted Hayman Reese on Friday 17th December 2011.

They appear to be interested in the feedback so I would suggest all the members with Hayman Reese towbars contact the Customer Care number (1800 812 017) and use option 4 to log a call.

I felt they were quite interested considering I was not actually a customer.

Re:

I bet they would be interested, especially if Nissan Australia didn't keep them in the loop regarding the whole saga!

They would also be interested when Scot (and other T31 X-Trail owners who have a Heyman Reese) towbar fitted report an identical problem to those of us with the "Genuine" Nissan towbar.

Hayman Reese and Nissan need to work to resolve this issue together and this will be the only way to have this issue resolved.

Re: T31 Tailgate Rubbing on rear bumper

Good to hear that you have contacted them Scot.

I tried to send my photos in in a pdf document but it got blocked by their email so will try again in another format.

It is interesting that Hayman Reese have stated to me that they DO NOT manufacture towbars for any other brand of towbar ie. Nissan.

So the question is...if Hayman Reese don't make the genuine Nissan towbars...who does?

As other members have reported the towbars are as good as identical so as you say Jalalski it is in everyones interest to work together to resolve the issue.

Re:

John,

Send them direct URL links to your PhotoBucket photos and that way they would appear as links an email which won't be blocked.

P.S. There are some agreements in place which can't be publicized due to the nature of disclosure clauses included in them between the companies in question. Suffice to say, this is not the only Australian manufacturer Nissan Australia uses to manufacture accessories locally apart from the towbar. (enough said I reckon).

Great to hear Scot interested to hear how you progress.

Just got confirmation that Cequent who represent Hayman Reese have received the pictures from me.

As mine is a Nissan supplied towbar I will continue to pursue my Nissan Dealer who submitted the feedback to Nissan following the failure of their latest "fix" on Friday.

Good John, now they compare your pics to those that will be taken by Pedders of Scot's towbar. Good progress indeed. Well done guys emoticon
