Re: T31 Tailgate Rubbing on rear bumper

Same for me, photos and refits.
The fix is, to refit the bumper with a new set of instructions from "Techline"
I have been given the ok to claim for a replacement bumper due to the wear/ rubbing from the tail gate. I'm not having it replaced until Nissan fix the fit of my current bumper.
Maintain the rage people.

Re: T31 Tailgate Rubbing on rear bumper

After just over two years it appears that Nissan has officially responded to the T31 X-Trail towbar/bumber misalignment problem. We have our X-Trail booked in for the 16th December 2011 so our dealer can try and resolve the problem based on the Nissan update.

I submitted photos earlier in the forum and the same photos to the dealer who submitted them to Nissan.

The dealer confirmed that all the T31 X-Trails fitted with the towbar had the same problem and so an earlier fix would have saved a lot of rework.

The service manager reported that they had identified the cause following my report and investigations during subsequent T31 towbar installations. The official fix was however required from Nissan to ensure any modifications did not impact on towbar ratings etc.

Our vehicle will be the first the dealership updates with the official fix so I will try to find out what the change involves and report back to the forum.

Re:

Thanks John and indeed it was the photos you posted in this thread back in October 2010 showing the misalignment that had prompted me to complain to Nissan Australia formally and this complaint was then followed-up by Scot and others confirming the defect.

It's nice to see Nissan listen to us for a change and I only wish they would listen to us when it comes to the CVT extended warranty and the diesel oil leaks!

Nissan Australia said that a different set of fitting instructions has been given to all dealers, so it would interesting to find out what the change in the fitting method really is.

Re:

Your choice Robert and I remember you said exactly the same thing about the CVT noise that was coming from your T31. When things start falling off the car and the noises turn into something more serious, it will be a bit too late to try and get these done "free of charge", so I would take every opprtunity to get the car fixed while the offer is hot and still valid.

Re:

Thats right Robert, as Jalal says at least get Nissan to have a look so that when things start to go bad, they at least have it on their records.

Remember this, cars aren't as easy to fix or as cheap as they used to be in the earlier days.
