Re: A National X-Trail Get Together
This sounds like a great idea - We will certainly be planning to attend - assuming holidays available etc.
We are currently planning a trip next May from Adelaide to the Kimberleys (passing through Alice both ways). I am struggling to fit everything in the five weeks planned, but if this trip goes to Alice, then I can leave all our red centre sightseeing till then!
Will definitely keep an eye on this one!

Re: A National X-Trail Get Together
Hi Guys,
I will soon create a new thread for the selection of this event organizing committee from each state and nominations will be welcome in that thread.
We will need 3 members to be part of this committee from each participating state, so start thinking about it and consider volunteering if you wanna be part of the committee.

It appears that NSW is the only state that have their 3rd term school holidays in October, whereas all the other states & territories are mid-to-late September through to October. Would it not be a better idea to meet when most members can get time off?
That is correct Steve, but NSW can't start any earlier than the 3rd of October because it is not a good idea to have the school kids miss the last week of the term to be inline with all other states and leave in late September, while other states can start the 4th term late by one week in October without affecting the school kids (nothing much happens in the first week of school term when the kids are back)

Jalal, has any decision / clearer idea been made as to when the meet-up is likely to take place? And can anyone tell me when the wet season officially starts? I would love to go via the Plenty Highway, but not if the roads are too wet.

I am proposing we take a week leave starting from 3rd of October and this would be the day to leave your home state (or Friday the 2nd of October if you can) and make your way to Alice Springs. I believe this location is the most central to all states and would attract many members.
Here is what I found on the net about the wet and dry seasons in NT:
The Wet is between November and April with temperatures averaging 33-35° C during the day dropping to an average of 23-25° C overnight. The Dry is between May and October with temperatures averaging 30-32° C during the day dropping to an average of 20-22° C overnight.
