Re: Bonnet Protector T31

Hi Pete,

There should have been a small self adhesive clear PVC patch that sticks onto the bonnet on the area that the clip will go onto to protect the paint, or at least these was in the bonnet protector strip that I bought from Jalal. Without this the metal clip will just scratch it's way through the paint. Guess the guys who fitted yours in the garage didn't bother using it.

Re: Bonnet Protector T31

Maybe a silly question, but do the bonnet protectors work very well?
I seem to get most of my bugs on my nudge bar and grill so im guessing thats where the rocks go too!
They look good, but i might be too lazy to clean under them emoticon

Yeah mate, I believe they work extremely well.
The only downside I have found is that when the Xy is wet, and whilst driving, it tends to randomly spray water on the outside edgwes of the windscreen. It used to annoy me through the intermittent use od the wipers but I got used to it.

I haven't taken mine off since I brought the car. I squash the sponge in behind it to clean behind there.

Nissan didn't put any protective film on my bonnet either, I used stick on clear bumpers that they use behind drawers in kitchens to protect the paint.

Re: Bonnet Protector T31

I also believe the bonnet protector is important and didn't find any difficulty cleaning behind it. The good thing is that it doesn't trap any leaves behind it as well, even if one or two gets in there it will just get blown when you start driving the car and will escape from the sides.

I also believe that the dealers are too lazy to use the supplied clear PVC patches when fitting these bonnet protectors as I saw these patches on the ground at the dealer's workshop.

Re: Bonnet Protector T31

Any protection the exy can get is good for me.

As per in another post, A few weeks ago another car or something thrown not sure, smashed the left hand side light cover protector in half, If the cover was not in place I would be buying a new light.

So The bonnet protector has earned its right there as the rocks from time to time just miss the nudge bar and hit the protector.

So they are worth while.

Regards Scot

Re: Bonnet Protector T31

I bought it after I got delivery of the car and I fitted myself, it wasn't that hard. I got two PVC patches came with the package and fitted under the two metal clamps as instructed. However, I found the clamps are just too tight, it would damage the paint for sure if fitted without PVC patches under it. I had a look at the bonnet protector of the Outlander the other day, and the clamps are hard plastic ones, which I think it's better for the paint for long term.
