28th Sept 08

Sunday 28th saw 2x (QLD) exy's (Scot and Wendy, Paul and Emma) meet up at the good old Beaudesert KFC at 9am and after exchanging initial greetings we hit the trails at 9.15am.

We wound our way through the great ranges and stopped to take a few photo's and being a beautiful clear day got some great sceneary shots... (of which I will have to add at a later date)

We hit the dirt trails and found our way up past a couple of retreats (will have to visit someday). Crossed a couple of bridges and stopped for lunch at the old WWII Tank Traps. There was a pretty area of beach and a stones throw away what looked like an islet with a toyota landcruiser stopping for lunch on it.

After looking at the water crossing from all angles we resigned ourselves to staying on the track side of the water rather than trying to visit the islet and with another little investigation believe that the cruiser did not actually do the creek crossing (no tyre marks leading to the water's edge).

So we then indulged ourselves into our lunch and took another couple of snaps of the cars and the sceneary.

1.30pm saw us back on the track and on our way to the border and onto the township of drake, then Tenterfield for a fuel up.

We came back past the Boonoo turnoff wishing we had time to do a bushwalk to bald rock.
We turned off and travelled through the Queen Mary Falls area (bitumen rd) and stop for a couple of more shots of a beautiful waterfall. Then it was back on the trail to Boonah.

We reached Boonah by 6.00pmish and said our goodbyes and parted ways.

Thank you to Wendy and Scot for taking the lead on this trip. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and your company.

Until next time...

PS - Will hopefully update this with some pictures soon.

Re: 28th Sept 08

We had a great day with Paul and Emma and our thanks to them for the trip report.

The road we took is nothing special in that it is just a dirt road. It is very winding in parts and crawls up and down the mountain ranges until you get to the Clarence River where we had lunch. This is also a great spot to go swimming especially in summer.

We're looking forward to our next trip with them.
