Qld's 6th & 7th December 2008
Hi All,
Thought that I'd put out a feeler for those in Qld to see who would be free for the weekend of the 6th & 7th of December 2008.
I am currently researching some camping sites for the night. But would like to see who could come before I make any bookings (the earlier the better). Thought that we might get this trip in before the school holies start to explore some of SW Qld.
A rough plan for the weekend might look along the lines of doing the condamine on the sat and the border ranges on the sun or vice-versa. Is in the early stages of planning and is flexible as yet. Will also try to plan for those that may only be able to come out for a day trip.
AN UPDATE FOR ALL (from page 4)
Sat 6th Dec 08:
8am meetup at Rathdowney Tourist Information Centre, then head off to the Levuka 4wd park where we will sign in, set up camp then go travel some of their tracks. They have tracks ranging from easy to difficult but we won't be doing anything that's designed for the big brother vehicles. Cost will be $25 per vehicle (cash only) for the 24hr period covers driving the tracks and the camping sat night. They have hot showers and flushing toilets. Some beautiful green scenary so bring your camera's.
Sun 7th Dec 08
9am Meetup at Rathdowney Tourist Information Centre, with other day trip drivers. (means leaving the Levuka campsite by 8am for those camping overnight). We will then travel the border ranges trip (tour #19 from the Dirty Weekends Book) which is graded as easy bush driving. We will stop for lunch along the way and say goodbyes at Nerang.
A short briefing will be given to all drivers at the start of each drive. Which will include the following points:
Website Briefing to Attendees for Qld 6/7 Dec 08 Trip
1 The tracks at the Levuka 4wd park vary from easy to difficult. We will not be attempting the big brother stuff. These tracks will hopefully allow people to practice some basic 4wding skills.
2 Those attending please advise of your off-road skills (these are as I understand it) please advise if they need to be amended:
Paul - Experienced + Kim, Sat & Sun
Scot & Wendy – Novice, Sat & Sun
Kevin – Novice, Sat & Sun
Megan – Novice, Sat & Sun
Jamie & Family - Experienced, Sat & Sun
Chris, Barbara & Holly - ? Skill, (Saturday + ? o/n Sunday)
Justin ? (Skill), ? (Sat & Sun)

(If you still have a question mark next to your name please PM me so that I can edit as required. Or if I have missed you out please also PM me so that I can add you in - apologies in advance.)
3 No level 4/5 tracks are expected to be traveled.
4 Safe and responsible driving will be expected. ALL on and off Road rules apply. Anyone behaving in an ill manner will be asked to leave.
5 Lead vehicle = Paul, Tail vehicle decided on the day. During the travel please ensure that your lights are switched on so other drivers may realize that we are in convoy. Always ensure that you can locate the vehicle in front and the vehicle behind you and adjust your speed accordingly and safely.
6 Please ensure that you have ALL read the Events Rules/Disclaimer as posted by BlankThunda on the 21 Oct 08 7.45am.

Re: Qld's 6th & 7th December 2008
Hi All,
I have found a campsite with toilets and showers south of Boonah for $8p/p p/n. They have campfire pits etc but sites are unpowered.
Feel free to check out their website at: lakemaroon.com.au
It's not one that I've been to before. Has anyone else? any feedback?
I will also start to do up a bit of a loose itinerary pm me with your email address and I can send it through.
Regards,
Paul.

Re: Qld's 6th & 7th December 2008
Hi Robbo, Thanks for that. Will definitely get as many photos taken.
Hi Scot and Wendy, Let me know when your free cause I'm planning to maybe do a couple of daytrips to do a scout around and check my times for the itinerary. (want to allow enough time to set up camp and make a kickarse campfire).
Hi Jamie, Muchly appreciated. Would love to beat the #14 exy's on a trip record currently held by NSW
Regards to all,
Paul.
