Re: Hunter Range Trip - Nov 2008

Guys, I would love to come on this trip, but I am running a work 4wd course over this weekend. Bugger.

Maybe next time.

Come on Rich, how about you organise a trip for the new year.
Something that you can book into your schedule and lock it in.
It will be extremely hard to then pull out, when you are the organiser. emoticon

Its probably a good idea to leave a little earlier than the stated time.
Better to get home earlier rather than later.
I did a track years ago called "the Great north road", Its just across the river at Wisemans Ferry. It rained the previous day and turned the track into a slush pit with mud and clay.
The track was 67kms long, we started at 9am and got out near Putty somewhere at 7:30pm.
A long day but a hell of a track.
Just a thought!
Tony

I think I tried a couple of years ago and ended up having to pull out of my own trip! emoticon

I'll have to print out next year's calendar (or wait for the X-Trail forum ones to become available) so I can choose a date... At this stage they're all obviously available as our current calendar only goes to Dec (obviously) and I don't have any post-it notes on the wall next to it to mark any future dates to put into the new calendar yet...

Hey Tony,

I'm OK with an earlier start, but aware that some people have a long drive just to get to Putty. With daylight saving, we'll have sun until about 6:30 and light until at least 7:30pm. Would everyone be Ok if we pushed the start time forward to say 8:30 or even 8:00am start at Putty? Remember, Putty is an hour from Windsor.

Dave,

When in November this event is taking place? I looked in the thread and I can't see a date assigned to this event.

Re: Hunter Range Trip - Nov 2008

Hi Everyone,

Confirmed date is Saturday 1st November. Time is yet to be finalised, but I would say 8am for an 8:30am start is the likely time.

The meeting point will be on the Putty Valley Rd where it turns off the Windsor to Singleton Rd. If you want to check the area on Google Maps, click Putty NSW and the area is covered (including streetview pics). There is a large area to pull off the road and park. I will send out a map (including the streetview photo) closer to the date. I will also PM my mobile number if people wish (bear in mind there is no GSM mobile phone coverage for the entirety of this trek.)

For those of you concerned about getting trapped in the dark; the sunset will be approx 7:15pm and last light about 7:35pm. Long range weather is for rain on Oct 30th and 31st, but Nov 1st will be fine. (If you believe long range weather forecasts).

Oh, P.S Harish....I have a 2 hour run from my place as well. It should be worth the trip!!! emoticon
