Hunter Range Trip - 1st of Nov 2008

Hi Guys,

Well, we've had so much interest from the forum, Dingomouse and I have decided to go for a Hunter Range trek. The date is Saturday 1st November. A few important details.

First - it is important that you read the threads relating to forum trips here - http://www.runboard.com/baustralianxtrail.f10.t125341

Secondly, this is a long trek...approximately 100km, most of which is 4WD dirt. This means we will need to make an early start so as not to be stuck out in the bush after dark.

Third, the trek is rated as easy, but can be quite difficult after heavy rain, so weather may influence what we do. Overall, the guide lists it as soft roader suitable and from our experience, we would rate it as a grade 2. The harder sections are near the end of the trek, so newbies will have had some experience before they have to tackle the more challenging tracks. We believe it is suitable for first timers. There will be a number of more experienced drivers to offer advice if needed.

We will be meeting at Putty (about an hours drive up the Putty Rd from Windsor) at 8:30am for a 9am (sharp) start. I will supply maps and meeting points a little closer to the date.

The following X-Trailers have indicated their desire to attend
Chris & Emma
Dave
Alex
Wendy
Rich
Tony
Paul
Zhivan
Harish

Can you please confirm you attendance ASAP. Of course...anyone else is welcome to attend.

More info to come closer to the date. This is going to be great....looking forward to it!!!

Hi all,
as Dave has mentioned this is quite a long trip hence the earlier than normal start. Also, there are no facilities enroute, so make sure you have plenty of fuel, food & water for the day. All being well we would hope to be at Sheepskin Hut for a brief lunch break, & then on to tackle Comission rd.
Looking foreward to seeing you all again (or for the first time)

Can't we just use a snatch strap to get the trees out of the way? emoticon

Sure if your Exy can suddenly turn into a Drot. You won't even need a snatch strap then. hehehehe
