Oil Filter

Thanks Jalal, I received the K&N oil filter today, but when I saw it I wondered if it was old enough to leave it's mum & dad!!!
I never realised they were so small. I would not have thought it was big enough to filter the oil for the time between oil changes.
Most ones on my previous cars have been twice the size at least.
Must work OK though.

I wonder if there is a bigger one that would fit?

Bigger also means more filtering media and more oil reserve.

Mitsubishi V6 engine use the same thread and the seal diameter and fits OK - (Made in Japan and cheaper). You can use Ryco Z547, Z456 or Z411 M20x1.5mm thread.

Re: Oil Filter

Hi Guys,

One of the xtrailers in Canada posted the following pics of a Genuine Nissan oil filter and this is what he found-out when he went a head to change it

Now that is the anti-drain valve which form an internal part of the filter is trying to escape and you can imagine where it would have ended-up.

Another good reason to switch to the K&N Oil Filter I reckon!

Re: Oil Filter

And where's the rubber o-ring? Did they leave that on the bottom of the block, and now there's minimal thread holding the new oil filter in place?! It's a worry!

The o-ring fell off when he removed the filter.

Re: Oil Filter

Noticed some oil on the garage floor last week, checked the oil and it was low, tracked the leak to a split ryco oil filter. So took it back to the mechanic, and got a different one on.

As it turns out, the mechanic called Ryco and they admitted to having some issues at the moment with some filters, and asked if he needed to fill in a warranty claim!

So just a word of warning that ryco filters seem ot be having some small issues at the moment.

(might add that i had an issue with another ryco filter's seal not wrking properly about two servces ago)
