Re: loafer's ride

That sucks. Not sure why Nissan haven't thought about that when they designed the towbar for the T31.

Have you actually tried fitting the shorter hitch lock or just took their word for it? I would try it anyway and see if the bumper can be slightly modified around it (i.e. a slight cut or something)

Stephen
I have a hitch lock pin on my T31 Nissan T/bar.
I took it from the Patrol before I sold it.
It didn't fit one way, but then I turned it around and it fit that way, only just mind you.

Here you go guys,
I hope this is what your looking for Stephen and not the actual recovery fiting.
The brand on the hitch lock is "ARK"

Re: loafer's ride

Thanks Tony,

I think the problem is with the type of towbar fitted by Stephen, his is a Hayman Reece which seems to sit deeper inside the rear bumper than the Genuine Nissan one you have.

Thanks Tony & Jalal for your input and suggestions.

I measured the distance between towbar fitting and bumper before I went out. Didn't try it, 'cos I didn't want to have to return it later. And I'm not too keen to be chopping into the bumper.

Re: loafer's ride

Stephen,

I had a T31 diesel with me yesterday as a loan car and it had the genuine Nissan towbar fitted, so I can tell you that the angled hitch locking pin fits it by 100% with no problems. I think Hayman Reece had your towbar pushed to deep inside the chassis or maybe it's just the way it has to be fitted and there is no way around the hitch lock problem for you.

Re: loafer's ride

So what you guys are saying is stick with the Nissan tow bar instead of after market to make things work properly.

Re: loafer's ride

If the price difference between the two is not that much, then yep. The T31 genuine nissan towbar hasn't got any issues like the T30 one.
