Re: loafer's ride Our baby was damaged (thankfully only lightly) by a hail storm that hit Ipswich a few weeks ago. Compared to others in the area, we got off very lightly, but it was still shocking for us (and our exy only being 3 months old).
Here are a few shots of the damage;
The canter rails were the most difficult to repair and the car had to spend a week in at the panel beaters . Thankfully though, they were able to match the paint up perfectly.
Even the rear taillight was punished Lots of pocks in the roof (approx 30 odd)
Thankfully the spoiler saved the rear window from being smashed
Overall damage quote = approx $2,500 - $3,000! (unbelievable for such little damage).

Re: loafer's ride Stephen that is hard to fix are they going to respray the entire roof?
I have small dent above the windscreen and it took the paint off to bare metal and was told to have it repaired they would have to take out the sunroof and respray the whole roof again otherwise if they patched it it would fade quicker than the rest.
So not looking forward to summer with storms coming as I have no shelter for our exy.

Scott
Received our exyback last Monday (a day before another bl**dy storrm hit Brisvegas!) and she looks beautiful! Just like brand new! Even got the dent removed from the back door that some moron put there at a shopping centre carpark (two days after original purchase).
Our insurance company utilised the services of a paintless dent removal company, so a respray for the roof was not necessary . As I said, the canter rails had to be treated (meaning scrapped, bogged and repainted) and there is no evidence of any original hail damage.
The only thing that pi**es me off is the extra scratches I found on the front of the bonnet and around the front drivers door handle (carelessness on behalf of the panel shop - for sure 8( ).

I wouldn't be parking your exy under the tree (as in your Avatar picture) . Super**eap have some reasonable shade cloth shelters that are easy to erect.

Did you follow-up on this damage caused by the repairer? It sounds like they had the keys in the same hand they used to open the door handle and open the bonnet...
I hate finding scratches (usualy every time I wash the X-Trail). I haven't washed it in ages, so chances are I'll find a whole heap more scratches than ever before!

I did Rich, but they said that it would be very difficult to prove that they were caused by their guys and suggested that I bring the car back in for them to assess it again. For a couple of scratches, I didn't think the 80-90km round trip was realy worth it.
It is very annoying when you spot a new scratch / dent, especially when you haven't been off road.
