With my 16 x 7 AT BFG's on, stop start driving blows the consumption out to 9+; once rolling it drops back to 7.2.

Will put the OEM 17"s on and verify the difference.

Put the original 17' with the Dunlops on and did a 1,200km round trip at an avg cruising speed of 116km/hr - consumption was steady for six hours at 8.0l/100 with an outside temp of 42C for five hours!

Re: T31 Diesel Fuel Consumption

Very interesting. I went for a jaunt down the freeway and after going up over the hills my fuel consumption went down below 7 (stock standard 17" mags).
I would like to see what 16" bfg's would do to mine.. interesting experiment..

John - did you have much in the boot etc?

Re: T31 Diesel Fuel Consumption

Hello all,

Anyone have practical fuel stats on the Diesel Auto? I really want the manual but the other half prefers the auto. Is it worth getting the auto with the added fuel consumption and extra 2 grand? Or is the petrol CVT auto the better option with the added tow weight.

Its a hard option to choose from.

cheers.

Re: T31 Diesel Fuel Consumption

Hi all,

Just to give you some comparison figures:
I have a T30 with 2.2 CDi and six-speed manual (would you want an auto on the dirt??).
It averages 8.3 lt/100 km, that os combined suburban-state road-motorrway driving. On the motorways I generally go at 140 clicks. When in Germany, up to 180 clicks.
I must add that I use cruise-control all the time when possible, even when not on motorways. Keeps the consumption down and speeding tickets out off my mailbox.
The average is obviously out off the window when I tear out off the blocks like Lewis Hamilton (yes, you can easily burn rubber, it's a very lively engine). However, easy does it, it's better on the wallet......
The T31 dC being only 2 litres and more advanced (Renault certainly have a track record for excellent engines) all of you T31 dC owners should be doing better! If not, go easier on the throttle..., saves money and the environment.
How goes that old native indian saying:
'Nature is not a gift from our parents, we have it on loan from our children'

Re: T31 Diesel Fuel Consumption

vehicle clocked up another 1500 to 21500 and did a trip to Bunbury Busselton on Monday at the posted speed limits with a reasonable load - 6.0l/100 - that is simply amazing - most of the run avg'd 100km/hr.

Re: T31 Diesel Fuel Consumption

Early days for us yet but we're simply amazed at the fuel usage of this vehicle (in comparison to our XR6!).

We picked her up with a full tank of fuel yesterday morning with 14 k's on the clock. Drove from Sydney to Goulburn down the motorways, then across to Tarago (country road) and down the Clyde Mountain to Moruya. Back up the Clyde and into Queanbeyan. So I'd say half was freeway driving and the other half would be considered country driving inlcuding a hill climb up the Clyde. 500 klms on the clock and it's saying 7.7 lph - not bad for a couple of drivers who haven't driven a manual car in 4 years and have never driven a diesel other than an old Navara ute and a Ford tractor!

Will be interesting to see how she goes with our daily driving.

Cheers...Nat

Re: T31 Diesel Fuel Consumption

Tony - the Clyde was what worried me the most as the XR6 just ate it up. I was VERY pleasantly surprised at how the X-trail went up there! Our consumption went from 7.7 to 8 lph between the bottom and the top of the mountain but we overtook where we could - so all in all excellent stats for that hill!

Re: T31 Diesel Fuel Consumption

I'm still averaging 7.0L/100km doing the daily commute to work. The odd trip down to the beach. Abut 16,000km on the clock now i think..

Diesel is down to about $1.10 here at the BP for 10ppm, Thursdays and Fridays are my favourite days now as petrol soars up to $1.26 and Diesel stays constant.

Im doing a trip over to Mexico with the camper trailer on the back - it will be interesting to see how that affects the fuel economy.
