Re:

You are wasting your time with Nissan, they will tell you it's within specs.
The gauge is there as a guide only and should not be taken as gospel.
Different driving conditions, road surfaces, inclines, descents, corners and even the driver affect fuel usage.

Re: T31 Diesel Fuel Consumption

Got the 10,000km service done, and described what I was doing, re-set the monitor, trip meter, average speed, etc, every fill up, and the service guy said, very quickly, "Stop doing that". Apparently, the new fangled versions don't just go off fuel used vs distance travelled, they are trying to be tricky by including average speed over many '000s of kms.

So he suggested not re-setting anything and assuring me it will get closer to actual consumption.

He's got 10 weeks before the next service, so if it is still 10% out, I am gonna start making noise.

Re: T31 Diesel Fuel Consumption

Just returned from a return trip from Parramatta to Parkes 694klm and refueled at the same pump at the servo with 45.5L. This equates at 6.4L per 100klm. I was sitting on 2000 rpm most of the way where permitted

If you have an iDevice (iPhone or iPad) get yourself an app called Road Trip (or Road Trip HD). It's WELL WORTH IT!

Keeps track of ALL expenses and consumption figures and reports all the statistics and averages very easily.

Nice! And they have smartphone apps for it in both Google Play and iTunes. AND it's free. Looks a bit more clunky and a bit less features but for something free it looks awesome. I'll stick with what I've got as it's got all my history in it. But this one looks great Jalal!

Re:

The main reason behind setting this one up was the ability of all forum members to compare their fuel consumption against others.

Re:

Following my EGR valve and DPF replacement I'm experiencing better fuel economy than ever. Averaging 7.45L/100km in combined city/highway cycle.
This only increased to 7.5 towing a trailer up the highway between Canberra and Newcastle.
I was limited to only 100kmh towing the trailer and as a result the car sat in 5th gear most of the way (about 2250RPM).
Very happy with my fuel economy!

Re: T31 Diesel Fuel Consumption

Hi Exers,
Took our new T31 TL Auto up the hill to Lithgow and back yesterday.
350k's on the clock.
Consumption meter was telling me 9.2 on the way up and 8.5 coming back.
Motor still tight so hoping for future improvements.
Cheers,
Phil

Re: T31 Diesel Fuel Consumption

After 1000k it's now reading 8.0. So a steady improvement.
Cheers,
Phil
