It is pretty much just a shopping trolley but does get into 100kph zones every week and ive never seen the dpf light come up on the dash or had it do a self clean. As usual trip computer showed less than that at 6.7. What was interesting though is that on this tank I initially saw the lowest figures on the trip computer I have ever seen 3.8l/100km! I filled up at Mt Victoria and drove 'downhill' to Penrith at normal speeds, but have recently started driving in 5th when below 90kmh. When I got to Penrith the trip computer was registering 3.8! By the time I headed back up the mountains & got to Bathurst it had risen to 5.8. A few short trips around town and a run to Cowra & back saw the final figure come out at 7. Not sure whether the change in driving technique or the fact that engine has finally loosened up may have contributed. Next time I'll just kept travelling down hill & I should be able to get about 2000ks out of a tank. hahaha nondisclosed_email@example.com (whip62)Mon, 22 Aug 2016 16:07:19 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2091243,from=rss#post2091243https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2091243,from=rss#post209124367,000 km on the clock and getting a regular 6.1lt per 100km on a trip (@110km/h according to the GPS) using cruise control with the air con running. Inserted Edit: Oddly, my trip computer consistently over-estimates Km/L usage and under-estimates range, but not enough to be of any concern~ maybe 0.3 l/100 Km or 300 Ml/100 Km ~ not significant at 0.3% error rating. I don't rely upon the fuel consumption range indicator & trip computer as anything more than a general guide. With my car, when the needle rests in the middle of the lowest red point indicator, according to capacity figures, there are about 5 litres still in the tank when I refill from that "empty" point . Naturally, not all of those remaining litres are useable. As an exercise, it might be worthwhile running the tank down to the point where the gauge touches the 'empty' then doing a refill. That will tell you what is actually left when the gauge indicates that there is nothing - for your car.. At the very least, yours will then be calibrated for you: i.e. your actual knowledge of real fuel level vs indicated fuel level approaching empty.nondisclosed_email@example.com (DogTrail)Mon, 24 Dec 2012 20:12:16 +0000 Re: T31 Diesel Fuel Consumptionhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2069562,from=rss#post2069562https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2069562,from=rss#post2069562The estimated range based on kms travelled and kms to empty varied in a steadily downward slide. It got to as low as 797 before the light came on at 703kms travelled, so the km to empty is useless...130km variance over a tank is inaccurate enough not to be trusted. So I got 750kms on 55.9L at 6.7 (according to the gauge)...the actual figure based on the fuel actually used and the kms actually travelled is 7.47, so that puts the consumption gauge out by 10%. Re filled and it immediately said 845 to go to empty. When you combine km’s travelled since reset, with the km’s to empty, it started showing 902km. After shooting up to 930 during another 200kms, it is now calculating 922km on a full tank….weird. I will do updates every couple of days so we get some real time info on what is going on, and my current average is 6.2km/100L, which is consistent with what I was getting with my 2006 Mazda6 diesel hatch. The distance to empty on my Xy is unlike anything I every seen before. It seems to estimate the distance of a full tank based on the 'measured' consumption of the last tank from what I can tell. Then is comes down at a rate that almost has nothing to do with your driving style (i.e. you can be rolling down a long hill in neutral and it still comes down). Then after a period that I have not been able to measure it re-adjusts the distance to empty. I have seen this go from 700km to empty to 850km to empty after re-adjusting. I have also seen it go from 100km to empty to 0 suddenly (when I clearly have a minimum of 120km left in the tank. My trip computer is always far more optimistic than the real consumption rate showing 6.1 when it was 7 and so on every tank. I have now done nearly 9000km and it is never even vaguely close. Every other car I have owned or driven with trip computers have been far more accurate than this one. All I can tell you is that you need to adjust your thinking and ignore the trip computer otherwise it will drive you made. Finally, the gauge is also pretty strange. I find that I generally get to 200km before it moves from full and then it drops at an alarming rate. I'm used to it now though. Overall I'm very happy, the Xy is great. If I were to change one thing it would be 6th gear I think.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Two Wheels)Tue, 18 Dec 2012 21:02:07 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2069422,from=rss#post2069422https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2069422,from=rss#post2069422Hi Wayne, I have a TL as well and like most others on the forum I can attest to the trip computer not being precisely accurate. It will give you a ballpark figure but fuel gauges in all cars are a little dodgy and this has a bearing on the accuracy of the trip computer. On some days it is more accurate than other days - totally depends on a lot of other factors including tyre wear, fuel density, fuel temperature, etc. On another point, though, I would be very careful about letting your Diesel go down to the yellow light. Diesel fuel systems corrode rapidly if any water gets through and you increase your risk of contaminating your fuel system with water if there is any that might be sitting at the bottom of your tank. As a general guide, I fill up at 1/4 of a tank and if I really must go down to the yellow I fill up immediately.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Exywarrior)Tue, 18 Dec 2012 19:12:05 +0000 Re: T31 Diesel Fuel Consumptionhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2069420,from=rss#post2069420https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2069420,from=rss#post2069420Just had the new TL for a week, and done 1800km at an "average" of 6.6l/100km. Problem is that the numbers don't add up for me.... Fuel warning light came on at 685km, saying "km to empty" as 85. It then clears at 55km to empty, giving me no idea on the rest (yes, I know it is probably not "to empty" but that isn't my major issue). I filled up 56L at 728km, which makes (within a bull's roar) 7.7l/100km...this is vastly different to the 6.6 on the trip computer. Based on what the fuel consumption gauge says, I should be able to get 960km on a 64L tank if I am doing 6.6 - which is a damn sight longer than 830kms (64L/7.7)!! I would hate to be 130km out on my trip planning... So what I need to know is, can I trust the trip computer? Logic says no, which is really annoying that a Japanese car with all the gizmos can't get fuel consumption right. For reference, my previous car was a Mazda 6 diesel hatch, which got 6.0L/100km, and the trip computer matched our filling rates. Has anyone else found a disparity between what the trip computer says and what their filling history is? Yes, I know it won't be precise, as nozzles go different depths, temperature, yada, yada, my method is I always stop when the pump stops so there is one less variable. Regarding fuel consumption, I have to say that I am seriously unimpressed with the computer but overall quite impressed with the consumption given the car has the aerodynamics of a brick. Just did Sydney - Melbourne - Sydney with some driving around Melbourne and a run down t Cape Shanck and over about 2250km the car averaged 6.97 l/100km (14.35km/l) which isn't bad but the computer thinks it did 6.10l/100km (16.38km/l) which is a massive difference and equates to over 300km more than I actually did. Have to say that I'm also a little disappointed with the gear rations - 6th needs to be a little longer so as to be able to run at lower revs around 110kph. Please don't take my criticism as even the slightest sign that I dislike my car, I'm loving it, I would just like the trip computer to be a little more accurate (other cars I've had wee far closer to reality).nondisclosed_email@example.com (Two Wheels)Wed, 28 Nov 2012 22:05:09 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2068572,from=rss#post2068572https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2068572,from=rss#post2068572You could be, but the car will be telling you that you are using 7.0 litres whilst your doing 95. (funnily enough, this exact topic was being discussed tonight at the pizza place with some mates). Here's my reasoning: if you're speedo is 5% out... when driving +for 60 minutes at 100km/h you are actually travelling 95km/h. Therefore in 60 minutes, you've only covered 95kms. If your car is reporting fuel consumption of 7l/100km over that stretch, the car doesn't realise it has only travelled 95kms in 60 minutes. The 'real' world consumption would be 7 / 95 x 100 = 7.36l/100km So in essence, EVERY ADR compliant vehicle is actually under reporting fuel consumption. * is my maths right?nondisclosed_email@example.com (konazz)Thu, 15 Nov 2012 22:31:33 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2068547,from=rss#post2068547https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2068547,from=rss#post2068547Think of it this way, if your speedo is out your actually using less diesel than you think.nondisclosed_email@example.com (cooch t31)Thu, 15 Nov 2012 05:01:01 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2068540,from=rss#post2068540https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2068540,from=rss#post2068540quote: The speedo on my exy is 5kph slow (indicates 100kph when the GPS is 95) so I asume the l/100 is out also.
