Re: how much are T31 towbars....?
Hi Brett,
Towbar looks great, nice and shiny tow ball.
quote: Unfortunately I think it is slightly larger than the Nissan version though so the bumper appears to sit out a little.
It sits about the same as the Nissan bar, the only difference I can see is that the Nissan gooseneck comnes out on a 45 degree angle where yours is 90 degrees.
quote: A number of the plastic clips which hold the bumper together nice and tight are barely holding and I'm going to have to figure how to get them to hold well - evidently the 5-10mm the black bumper has been pushed out have made some of the clips not quite as precise as they once were.
That is probably because the little white clips are broken, they break really easily. Get them to buy you new ones from Nissan and let them replace them.
Just pull the plastic back and see if there is a disc type shape on the body of the car, this means that it is broken.
There are about 6 that hold the entire wheel trim on.
As for the cable ties underneath, I don't know what their purpose is, maybe to hole the wiring loom in.

Re: how much are T31 towbars....?
Hi all, just thought I'd post an update on this for Sydneysiders looking to get a towbar installed...
Took the Exy back to Fastfit for them to fix the dodgey workmanship with the clips etc, they basically got it back together properly, although none of it looks like it did before the towbar went on (and I wasn't watching, but I think some superglue may have been involved). It doesn't look bad, I just know its not right, but that is probably mainly to do with the larger size of the non-Nissan towbar, so on this I'm prepared to offer a little grace.
However NOW the frustration is that I also bought from them a locking pin so I can leave the ball on when we're out and about. Went to put it in tonight and... the lock doesn't fit on! The tongue is so close to the bumper, and in the rear groove, that the pin goes through but the locking mechanism can't get on the right angle to actually accept the pin! Bah! Any ideas on this one? Can I just put the standard pin in and find a padlock with a thinner locking bolt to go through the hole on the pin instead of the clip that came with it? It's not overly secure, boltcutters would cut through it in no time, but it would work.
Open to other ideas?
In short, Fastfit did a cheap job. Looking back, I should have spent the extra money at a more well-known and reputable joint to save these little hassles, but in the end I have a towbar, the electrics work, and after this weekend I'll have towed some actual loads with it so if there are any more issues, I'll post back here!

Re: how much are T31 towbars....?
Hi Terry,
They have just sold it to you for the full retail price without giving you any discounts and for $900 bucks they better make sure it fits correctly in place, so you may want to pre-warn them about the existing bumper misalignment problem detailed HERE which all T31s are currently suffering from when fitted with a Nissan towbar. For $900 bucks I would be expecting perfection!
