58phil,
What was the final cost of that???
The bar was $559 supply only but the install was bundled up to include nudge bar and side steps so I don't really recall. Somewhere around $120 was the bar part I think...

Re: how much are T31 towbars....?

Hi all,
Can someone confirm if the rear guard needs to be cut to fit the genuine Nissan and Hayman Reese towbars? It's hard to tell from the pictures, however looking at my bumper it either needs to be cut, or go underneath the plastic bumper.
This is for a 2011 T31 model.
Thanks!
On my 2013 T31 the bumper had to have a square hole cut in it for the hitch receiver. The factory kit comes with a length of split plastic to fit around the hole as dressing.

Re:
Hayman Reese is fitted the same way, just a cut to the centre square in the bumper. Photos of it being fitted on a T31 can be found on Page 4 of this thread HERE

Re:
In the same boat now, wanting to get a towbar, and cursing for not getting one when I got the car, vehicle is still under new car warranty but i have no plans to loose her after 3 years so tempted to try either the following:
http://www.towbarsaustralia.com.au/towbar-kits/x-trail-t31-model-only
or go to a wreckers and get a genuine one for $330
I just cannot justify handing over $1050 to my local dealer to have one fitted by Nissan.

Re: how much are T31 towbars....?
That towbar in the link doesn't look like it has the long bars that go into the chassis rails and bolt on to them like the Nissan and Hayman Reese bars do.
No way I'd be getting one of those if it just bolts onto the back plate instead of the chassis rails.
I got my genuine Nissan one from a wrecker in Brisbane for $250, so it's worth hunting around for one.

Re:
Yer, I have a friend who works with vehicles all day long and did tow-bar fittings for the last 20 years, he said the same thing when I showed him and he told me to either pick one up from the wreckers and he can help me install it or he can grab me a new aftermarket one for around $500 with all the bits.
