So my question is, would this trip be suitable for a manual, plus we also do not have the down hill assist system, given the comments about the 'A break' and other steep sections?nondisclosed_email@example.com (lac510)Thu, 04 Sep 2008 20:05:11 +0000 Re: D'Aguilar Range Day Triphttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2015409,from=rss#post2015409https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2015409,from=rss#post2015409Have been given a delivery date for my Ti, and the d'Aguilar trip is one on the list of to-do's when it arrives!nondisclosed_email@example.com (Henry8)Fri, 15 Aug 2008 21:43:35 +0000 Re: D'Aguilar Range Day Triphttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2015374,from=rss#post2015374https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2015374,from=rss#post2015374Finally worked out how to post pics Here goes: Outside Crown Hotel - Dayboro Kluver's lookout 1 Kluver's lookout 2 Eating Jamie's dust That's all for now (not up to speed / can't wait for pics to load - zzzzzzzz)nondisclosed_email@example.com (loafer)Thu, 14 Aug 2008 22:10:36 +0000 Re: D'Aguilar Range Day Triphttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2015316,from=rss#post2015316https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2015316,from=rss#post2015316quote:Tony0 wrote: Was the trip you did basically Trip 8 out of the Dirty Weekends book? Tony The Exy's both handled the A Break like a dream. But it was good to have Jamie go first (given his level of experience) and to show the other ring-ins how it should be done . The Dirty Weekends guide book was very accurate. The guys who published/wrote it left nothing to the imagination (which is very important - particularly with novices such as myself). Only thing that wasn't recorded (I think) was a warning that the track is two-way and that mad trailbike riders fly around the corner at break-neck speeds!! If you decide to tackle A Break, probably good idea to go with another vehicle (just in case).nondisclosed_email@example.com (loafer)Thu, 14 Aug 2008 10:34:52 +0000 Re: D'Aguilar Range Day Triphttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2015304,from=rss#post2015304https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2015304,from=rss#post2015304Guys, This is meant to be a trip report To organise an outing you'll be better off starting a new thread in the "events" section of the forum.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Wed, 13 Aug 2008 22:29:49 +0000 Re: D'Aguilar Range Day Triphttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2015303,from=rss#post2015303https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2015303,from=rss#post2015303Hi Guys, Count me in on as interested in a trip. Currently work commitments are many and we cannot go far (Sunday is my only day off - mostly). But the beauty of the great south east is that there IS much to do and see in only a couple of hours drive from home . Probably won't do the D'Aguilar trip directly again (although it was great and we both want to do it again), so we're up for suggestions of any other close destinations. Who did you do your 4X4 course through? Jamie has suggested "Duncan's" for 4WD training and the hinterland one for a tag along.nondisclosed_email@example.com (loafer)Wed, 13 Aug 2008 20:22:41 +0000 Re: D'Aguilar Range Day Triphttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2015220,from=rss#post2015220https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2015220,from=rss#post2015220Would have loved to take out our girl again. after the 4x4 introduction course we did we have had a ball. Sure thing Dave. There was a little light discussion on Sunday as to where we might head next time. O'Reilly's and Stanthorpe were put on the table as possible destinations. When we get some time off work (and complete our domestic chores   ), we'll start the planning phase. I should note that this trip / outing wasn't listed on the forum prior to our departure because it was just our first offroad time and I'm very green at this sort of thing. It was a bonus for us that Jamie (et al) came along and now that I know a little more about 4WD'ing, I'll be sure to inform others. After all, the more the merrier! nondisclosed_email@example.com (loafer)Tue, 12 Aug 2008 10:56:07 +0000 Re: D'Aguilar Range Day Triphttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2015193,from=rss#post2015193https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2015193,from=rss#post2015193Thanks Stephen, we all had a good day out with a good bunch of people, hope to do it again soon. I'm thinking I may have to find something a little bit more exciting as during the rough downhill section before A Break, I looked over and caught Vicky napping. lol But, she did hang on going up over the rises on the A Break hills. Sorry, I forgot my camera and Vicky only took some at lunch time but I'll see if I can post some tonight. Thanks again and look forward to the next run.nondisclosed_email@example.com (BlackThunda)Tue, 12 Aug 2008 08:11:38 +0000 Re: D'Aguilar Range Day Triphttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2015189,from=rss#post2015189https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2015189,from=rss#post2015189At the risk of being VERY bloody late....! We passed a couple of Patrols & a Landcruiser (all 3 on steroids) at the base of A-Break. I'm sure they were thinking that we'd never have the power to get up the hill. My wife kept saying that it was so steep that she was afraid that we would roll over backwards onto our roof! And on the downhill run, the traction control worked a dream . A BIG thumbs up!nondisclosed_email@example.com (loafer)Mon, 11 Aug 2008 18:00:52 +0000 Re: D'Aguilar Range Day Triphttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2015164,from=rss#post2015164https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2015164,from=rss#post2015164Great stuff Stephen!!! Great first time off-road experience in our Exy and loved every minute of it! Thanks to Jamie (Black Thunda), Vicki, Cody & Alex for coming along and showing how it should be done. Thanks also to the other ring-ins (non Exy drivers - Pathfinder, Prado, BT50 & Hilux). We started at the Nudgee Rd Servo (kept waiting by the others) before heading up the highway (via a "scenic detour" - sorry Jamie ) to the Crown Hotel in Dayboro. Then followed the totally accurate directions from the "Dirty Weekends" guide to The Gantry (Mt Mee). The "A-Break" section was definitely the highlight of this short trip and we would love to do it again soon. Our friends (who had only previously done beach work) loved the experience and I think were amazed at how effortlessy the Exy's climbed the steep ascent! I have a few photos to show, but I'm not sure how to upload them. All in all, we had a blast and can't wait to tackle our next trip - maybe O'Reilly's or perhaps something down towards Stanthorpe (with an overnight camp?). PS Jalal - very glad I installed the bash plate. Would have bashed the plastic one off a couple of times, if not!   nondisclosed_email@example.com (loafer)Sun, 10 Aug 2008 20:17:38 +0000
