D'Aguilar Range Day Trip

Have just returned from a short day trip up to The Gantry on the D'Aguilar Range. Great first time off-road experience in our Exy and loved every minute of it! emoticon
Thanks to Jamie (Black Thunda), Vicki, Cody & Alex for coming along and showing how it should be done. Thanks also to the other ring-ins (non Exy drivers - Pathfinder, Prado, BT50 & Hilux).
We started at the Nudgee Rd Servo (kept waiting by the others) before heading up the highway (via a "scenic detour" - sorry Jamie emoticon ) to the Crown Hotel in Dayboro. Then followed the totally accurate directions from the "Dirty Weekends" guide to The Gantry (Mt Mee). The "A-Break" section was definitely the highlight of this short trip and we would love to do it again soon. Our friends (who had only previously done beach work) loved the experience and I think were amazed at how effortlessy the Exy's climbed the steep ascent!
I have a few photos to show, but I'm not sure how to upload them.
All in all, we had a blast and can't wait to tackle our next trip - maybe O'Reilly's or perhaps something down towards Stanthorpe (with an overnight camp?).

PS
Jalal - very glad I installed the bash plate. Would have bashed the plastic one off a couple of times, if not!
 emoticon

Absolutely, Dave! emoticon
We passed a couple of Patrols & a Landcruiser (all 3 on steroids) at the base of A-Break. I'm sure they were thinking that we'd never have the power to get up the hill. My wife kept saying that it was so steep that she was afraid that we would roll over backwards onto our roof! And on the downhill run, the traction control worked a dream emoticon .
A BIG thumbs up!

Re: D'Aguilar Range Day Trip

At the risk of being VERY bloody late....! If you guys tee up another trip of this sort send me a PM and I (and the Boss emoticon ) would be keen on putting the new Girl through some light trial paces.
Give me a chance to check out some Exys (and mods), and the Boss to work out what she now owns. We have done the "coffee shop" trip of Maleny hinterland etc....need some mud (thats me thinking!).If anything harder is planned my Triton and recovery gear is always handy..
Gotta start off somewhere..

Re: D'Aguilar Range Day Trip

Thanks Stephen, we all had a good day out with a good bunch of people, hope to do it again soon.

I'm thinking I may have to find something a little bit more exciting as during the rough downhill section before A Break, I looked over and caught Vicky napping. lol emoticon

But, she did hang on going up over the rises on the A Break hills.

Sorry, I forgot my camera and Vicky only took some at lunch time but I'll see if I can post some tonight.

Thanks again and look forward to the next run.

Sure thing Dave.

There was a little light discussion on Sunday as to where we might head next time. O'Reilly's and Stanthorpe were put on the table as possible destinations. When we get some time off work (and complete our domestic chores
emoticon ), we'll start the planning phase.

I should note that this trip / outing wasn't listed on the forum prior to our departure because it was just our first offroad time and I'm very green at this sort of thing. It was a bonus for us that Jamie (et al) came along and now that I know a little more about 4WD'ing, I'll be sure to inform others.
After all, the more the merrier! emoticon
