posticon New diesel trouble?

When I acceler in the second gear, the turbo comes in with a great boost.
It seems that somebody opens a valve.

Is that better to adjust?

or in better englisch???
If I give quiet gas in second acceleration come the turbo all of a sudden in this way around 2000, go for a ride. Would the turbo what more finely be adjusted can?

Thats just the way turbo cars are. its "turbo lag"

quote:

Lag
A lag is sometimes felt by the driver of a turbocharged vehicle as a delay between pushing on the accelerator pedal and feeling the turbo kick-in. This is symptomatic of the time taken for the exhaust system driving the turbine to come to high pressure and for the turbine rotor to overcome its rotational inertia and reach the speed necessary to supply boost pressure.

How a turbo works

Its not a problem and cant really be adjusted. Just put your foot down and hang on!!!

You might also hear it whistle when the turbo kicks in, which is perfectly normal too.

Mine doesn't whistle emoticon

Hey Ron... I'm thinking from one of your other recent threads and comments in the past that you might be looking or are looking at a Patrol... you know they've had a few turbo problems in the diesels?

Re: New diesel trouble?

A lot of people that I know that have had Patrols do have a lot of turbo problems,
most of them just out of warranty.
Nissan's excuse is that the owners don't clean the intercoolers often enough and voids the warranty. emoticon

I suppose this also applys to all turbo engines with intercoolers.

All turbos whistle due to the high rpm that they spin at. The Patrols don't have much sound proofing which means that you have a better chance of hearing it.

Re: New diesel trouble?

Yeah that's what I've heard Tony. Still... providing you take them in for servicing you would hope Nissan do all that for you.

And nope Matt, no snorkel on mine - yet. Because I'm likely to change vehicles in 3 years (being on a lease) I don't yet know if I want to put a lot of money in to it... rather just have fun with it as it is. If I knew I was going to keep it for much longer than the 3 years, it would already be set up hehehe.

Re: New diesel trouble?

Nathan,

I took delivery of a Pathfinder diesel today. Over in Europe I've had many diesels and I was a little disappointed that the X-Trail here didn't come in a diesel version at the time we bought it.
