Good idea Tony. I will have to ohm out an iPod connector to USB to find audio and power points, dont think audio goes to the USB. Then source a USB socket. 3.5mm is easier but not as elegant. This way using the USB, it charges the ipod as well as plays its music. The 3.5mm jack will only play the music and will not charge the ipod. My daughter has a unit we got at the Apple shop. One unit runs on the iPod battery, the other charges the iPod and runs on cig lighter output. Both have a function where they find a good frequency to transmit.  The cheapies on eBay were all rubbish, low output, poor quality. When i get brave I might look at making an interface for mine, did this on another radio and was able to mount the input on the front face so that it disconnected the radio CD and played from this input.nondisclosed_email@example.com (MikeSpike)Mon, 18 Jan 2010 23:28:24 +0000 Re: Conection for i-pod or USBhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2036355,from=rss#post2036355https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2036355,from=rss#post2036355What a shame...nondisclosed_email@example.com (fangios)Sun, 15 Nov 2009 21:54:38 +0000 Re: Conection for i-pod or USBhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2036341,from=rss#post2036341https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2036341,from=rss#post2036341T30nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Sun, 15 Nov 2009 12:51:21 +0000 Re: Conection for i-pod or USBhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2036340,from=rss#post2036340https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2036340,from=rss#post2036340Is this for the T30 or the T31?nondisclosed_email@example.com (fangios)Sun, 15 Nov 2009 12:40:13 +0000 Re: Conection for i-pod or USBhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2033059,from=rss#post2033059https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2033059,from=rss#post2033059For those of you who are tech savvy - this may be of some interest. I can't remember where I found it though... I myself am useless in this area, although my friend managed to understand and produce a cable from the following that plugs into the stacker (8 pin din) input. Works a treat! He is going to see if he can also make one that will control the ipod from the head unit. Much cheaper than buying a new head unit!!! ------------ I have obtained the pinouts for the input. It is a 8 pin din. Used for CD changer. 1. Rch- 2 Nc 3 Rch+ 4 Combi on 5. Lch+ 6 Aux on 7. nc 9 gnd. I used 3&5 as L&R input. Joined 1&7 as gnd. It plugs into your 12v cigerette input and has a flexiable arm which the Ipod unit sits in. It is designed for all models of Ipods with interchangable plastic holders. Sound quality is not too bad and the cool thing about it it searches for clean FM frequencies to tune to so you can set the Exyies FM receiver to the units display frequency. I use it all the time and love it. I have a T31 TS and the CD player is compatible with CDs with MP3 or WMA formats. There isnt a jack to plug in an MP3 player. I had a look around and explored the manual but there is no mention of a MP3 jack on any model. There is only a mention that when using a CD with MP3 or WMA format, when changing tracks, the folders will display. The other half thought it had a jack as the salesman said you could play MP3s .... but what wasnt mentioned was MP3 music burnt to a CD. Hence I've done a fair bit of research into them. The short story is that FM transmitters are unlikely to work successfully as the car antenna is designed to be sensitive to signals coming in from generally all directions other than underneath it as is the case with the FM transmitters. The only way to get around the directional issue is to use a reasonably high power transmitter but this may be difficult due to licensing. The closest I could find is a device from Jaycar that essentially switches the radio's antenna input between the antenna and an aux/ipod input, however the sound clarity is supposed to be fairly average. Hence I didn't worry about spending the $70 on one. Personally I've resided to the fact that I can't connect my MP3 player through the Nissan stereo and I'll probably buy a radio/dvd/gps/mp3 through ebay for about $500 when Kevin Rudd gives his next hand out!! If anyone thinks different to the above comments or has positive experiences with FM transmitters I would love to hear from them. Personally I usually get 6-8 CDs worth of music on an MP3 disc, so with the stacker full you can get anywhere from 30-50 CDs worth of music in there (approx). For longer trips I'll keep using the FM transmitter for the iPod, but for around town MP3 discs hold more than enough.
