I think they just upgrade the software as cars come in for their service, thats what happened with mine.
Just ask them when you drop it in.

I never once have had a software update, nothing written on their receipt anyway.
It should be right?

Re: T31 Cruise control issues

The Nissan customer care centre said to take your car to the dealer and they will update it if you can show your cruise control playing up. My local nissan said a patch didnt exist last time I asked even though other forum members had had it done!

Because I dont use Nissan for servicing anymore this means I have to book in, hope it plays up in the test drive then get updated. If no fault is proven in this time I will have to pay for the time of the person who comes for the drive. No indication was made if this will cost money after the warranty period is over.

Re: T31 Cruise control issues

When I discussed my Cruise Control problems with Lakeside Nissan and mentioned the software patch, they said they have never seen an update for the T31. They get bulletins all the time but don't recall ever getting one mentioning software updates etc. and definately none for applying at service.

Lakeside Nissan then proceeded to contact Nissan Aus Techs about my problem, Nissan Aus provided them with the patch; they then called me to come in emoticon

It seems you have to ask; and have a proactive dealer that's interested.

Re: T31 Cruise control issues

My 2 local dealers are interlocked and said that they havent heard about the patch again yesterday. Going to have to go to Grafton or Gold Coast to get a "proactive dealer" or email Nissan Australia about it.

Dont particularly want the local Nissan dealer to touch my car anyway, too many bad storys have come from there.

Re: T31 Cruise control issues

Took car to Lakeside 8am this morning and it was ready to go by 9:15am. I was told the software patch was for the ECM only.

Car is much more driveable generally; very smooth when taking off, accelerator more progressive and when taking off with a light throttle the engine only slows to about 1800rpm instead of 1100rpm (which caused hesitation and a slight lag and shudder from the low revs) as the torque converter locks up.

The cruise control is also much more accurate and holds within a km/h or two on the flat and up and down hills without overspeeding very much at all.

So far so good.

Re: T31 Cruise control issues

My car is due for its next visit to Lakeside in the next few days, just need to ring them tomorrow and book in. Will definately ask them to look at this as it is one of the very few issues I have with the vehicle. Thanks for the info.

Re:

An interesting topic, as I too thought there was something wrong with my CC in my 2008 XTrail which I only purchased last month.

Previously, I had a 2004 XTrail, and I thought the CC worked perfectly, always maintaining the selected speed, even going up steep hills (though the Revs went up). But the 08 model loses about 5kmh easily going up hills (though the Revs don't up).

Overall, I find the 08 model much more sluggish generally than the 04 model, though gear changes are smoother.

The warranty runs outs in April 2011, so I will take it to a Nissan dealer to try and rectify the CC problem. What do I tell them - "I need a patch to fix the problem", or is there something more technical I should say, or quote from?

Re: T31 Cruise control issues

Hi Guys,

This is just a heads-up on the cruise control problem on some T31s.

The guys in UK (and other countries in Europe) are suffering from this problem as well and this problem has presented itself with the 2011 Series 3 & 4 models as well.

The new shape T31 xtrail is registering a fault in the ECU when the cruise control starts to play-up and the error code is related to an upstream air pressure sensor.

Europe Nissan dealers have also been advised to push out a software update should the customer complain about the cruise control not functioning correctly.

I will let you know of the software version when more details are posted on this.

Re:

Hope they contact me somehow, I made advances to dealers, when I had my warranty, who said it didnt exist or I had to pay for the mechanics time to prove I needed it because its unheard of, now with no warranty and not using Nissan for servicing hope my mechanic can get it done.
