I also have bought a secondhand car without keys for the rails. My lock number is 210. Is there a member that has this key? OR Has someone had a key key cut from a locksmith? If so do they know what blank was used to cut the key. If I can arm myself with a blank number it may make it easier for the locksmith. Regards 1st January 2016 Problem solved thanks to Ebay and an outlay off $15. Much better than the locksmith option starting at $85.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Little Devil 666)Wed, 11 Nov 2015 21:05:21 +0000 Re: Roof bar keyshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2067915,from=rss#post2067915https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2067915,from=rss#post2067915I know this is an old thread and all, but I bought my xtrail second-hand and also had no key. However, like rescue1 also pointed out, I just used an impact drill with the correctly-fitting bit (bought in a multi-assortment box from bunnings) and had no dramas whatsoever. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Ian Ewin)Tue, 23 Oct 2012 22:25:00 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2064741,from=rss#post2064741https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2064741,from=rss#post2064741hehe, fine be logical about it. I just bought an X-Trail and would like to remove them but the original owner doesn't know where they are. Thanks.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Chettlingham)Sat, 21 Jul 2012 19:11:26 +0000 Re: Roof bar keyshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2030274,from=rss#post2030274https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2030274,from=rss#post2030274The "genuine" roof bars on the T30 were sourced from Rola and the T31 from Thule. The Allen Key you need is a security Allen key and you usually get the appropriate bit in many of the multi bit kits from places like Jaycar (that's where mine came from) or Bunnings. The Rola screws are substantially smaller than the Rhino Rack ones so a Rhino Key won't fit.nondisclosed_email@example.com (rescue1)Tue, 14 Jul 2009 22:13:03 +0000 Re: Roof bar keyshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2030226,from=rss#post2030226https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2030226,from=rss#post2030226Something that may help: "r17" will refer to the size oif the head, and from what you describe it sounds like either a hex driver or a torx driver, although trox sizes are usualy preceeded by a T, eg "t16" (suitable for mobile phone screws) If you have a look in your nearest hardware store you should find either a set of allan keys with this size or a screw driver with a r17 (hex) head. as for the keys, I agree with previous posts, and would second that you go to a locksmith with the lock number, and I am led to beleive that this is a common key profile and a lock barrel with only 3 pins. Making it a cheap fix. failing that, learn how to lockpick from youtube lol...nondisclosed_email@example.com (Dranoweb)Tue, 14 Jul 2009 12:04:38 +0000 Re: Roof bar keyshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2020670,from=rss#post2020670https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2020670,from=rss#post2020670Thanks Stan for your help - the more info the better in my book mate! I understand the points you make in regards to different dealers, and must say that I have had some fantastic help from Symes Motors here in Bendigo, Vic. Whilst they had said that we would probably have to buy a new key that they were looking in to for us, they were also trying to contact the previous owner of our car to see if she had the key. After a few days they contacted us to come and sign a form that we had missed, once we did that they presented us with a set of brand new roof rack locking flaps and keys, free of charge! Awesome service! The first dealer here in Ipswich had no idea, and in the end suggested a locksmith. I got a quote for about $30 and thought this was a bit steep. I then rang another dealer in Brisbane and they were that helpful it wasn't funny. They knew all about how to get these keys, and how long it took. It cost me $17.50, and took a week as they had to come from Melbourne. All I had to give them was the number on the lock, and when I got them they worked perfectly. If they seem a bit tight at first, just spray some WD40 into the lock and that will free things up. Sorry for war and peace, but I just wanted to illustrate how much difference there can be from one dealer to another. The dealer who got me the keys was Highway Nissan at Springwood, near Brisbane. I was wondering if there was a cost for the small key that locks the screw cover into place? We've just bought a 2004 X-Trail and the roof racks were provided but not installed, and there is no sign of the small key that goes with them (the allen key type thing was provided at least!) The key I ordered through the dealer (Keema Nissan on Logan Road, Mt Gravatt, QLD) was the allen key looking thing. And eve the allen key used was a special security type of allen key that had a hole in the middle of it. The Series II xtrail came with roof racks that uses actual keys to lock them in place, but am not sure if these keys are unique for each roof rack set, otherwise anyone would have been able to pinch one another's roof racks if they all shared the same key. I believe Nissan should be able to provide a spare set of keys depending on the lock number, but it is not a Nissan manufactured item, so they need to contact the manufacturer for that, which I believe is Thule Roof Racks who made the series II ones for Nissan.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Mon, 05 May 2008 21:21:16 +0000 Re: Roof bar keyshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2012334,from=rss#post2012334https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2012334,from=rss#post2012334Hi ledbye, The series 2 Xtrail had roofracks which were compatible to the rhino sportz racks.
