posticon BlackThunda coming to NSW

Meet-up details as follows:

Date: 12.7.08
Time: 10.00am
Location: Awaba State Forest
Meet-up Point: The service station at the intersection of Freemans Drive and Palmers Road.
Who's attending: Confirmed Rich, Chris, Paul and Jamie (and me)

Hey guys, I'm planning a camping trip to NSW with my son on the second week of the Queensland holidays. No definite plans as yet, just a general idea of timeframes.

I'm thinking I will be in Bourke on Wednesday 9th July and then onto Dubbo on Thursday 10th & Friday 11th July to do the Zoo.

I was wondering if the NSW Xtrailers want to do a drive on Saturday 12 July.

I can meet anywhere in the greater Sydney area or outer western suburbs or stay in Dubbo Friday night if it is closer to the start of the drive, so up for any suggestions from anyone interested in doing a day trip.

I will have to head back on Sunday so can't do an overnighter or anything but it would be great to get in a drive when down there and meet some of the NSW contingent of the forum.

Any Queenslander that has the week off and looking for something to do is more than welcome to tag along. emoticon

Brett & John are probably the closest two NSW members that I can think of. Dubbo is quite a drive from Sydney, and Bourke is probably twice as far again emoticon

I've put it in the calendar, but I don't think it would be suitable for a day-trip for me!

Hi Rich,

I'm happy to drive into Sydney and camp somewhere Friday night so can be up early for a drive around Sydney somewhere.

Maybe a drive somewhere round the Blue Mountains or thereabouts.

Re: BlackThunda coming to NSW

Hi Jamie,

I was going to say the same as Rich, Dubbo is quite a hike for us Sydney-siders, although I would love to go there again and visit the Zoo with kids, but after getting stuck in traffic the last time when I went there for a day drive on the way back to Sydney (I actually had to pull-over for some sleep) I vowed never to go there again for just one day emoticon

If you don't mind coming to Sydney, then you won't have to worry about camping anywhere, as you and your son can just spend the night at my place (Saturday) and hit the road on Sunday as planned.

So if this is OK with you, let us aim to organize a meet-up and drive on Saturday 12th of July

Blue Mountains sounds cool.....yeah, it will be VERY VERY cool this time of the year there LOL emoticon

Am open to other suggestion from Sydney-siders, let's give Jamie a warm welcome and a chance for him to meet as many of you as possible on the day.

Re: BlackThunda coming to NSW

Thanks for the incredible offer Jalal.

Saturday night after the day out (drive), I'd like to make my way up to Chittaway Bay (Newcastle) to visit my Sister for the night and then take off from there Sunday morning.

I'll wait to see where we start the Drive from on Saturday as to where I stay Friday night, I suppose I should go and see me old mum while I'm down there but not a problem if I can't and I have a couple of friends out the Mountains/Penrith way so no problems there.

Let me say, I don't mind in the least being part of another record breaking Xtrail run.

Thanks for the suggestion Julie but - The spectacular Wombeyan Caves are located 180km south of Sydney (via Mittagong) - This might be too far down for me.

Is there any good trails around the Blue Mountains?

I'll put full details of my planned trip as soon as I get a few things finalised.

Looking forward to it! emoticon

Well there is Newnes, also plenty of spots between Sydney and Newcastle.

I would love another trip to the mountains though. I am sure Brett would know of a few other spots in the mountains as well as Newnes

Re: BlackThunda coming to NSW

Now the question is :P do we count Jamie's car in the NSW attendance tally? Imagine that, a QLD helping NSW beat them with attendance emoticon Jamie, you may have some enemies when you return to QLD he he.. Just kidding.. but you will have a great time down here, and especially at Dubbo Zoo. We were there about 6 months ago during a long weekend and took the push bikes up there, lots to see, and the tickets last two days so if you dont see it all in the first day, you can go back the second day for free..

I'd definately be up for an exy meet that weekend..
