Re: DIESEL T31 X-TRAIL COMING JULY 2008

I heard today that the diesel may not be coming to Australia . The decision is "still up in the air " . Has anyone heard similar , or is this just a B.S story !

Re: DIESEL T31 X-TRAIL COMING JULY 2008

I got a confirmation email from Nissan Australia just yesterday saying that stock is arriving in July to meet the July launch sales. I'm booked for a test drive when the dealer gets one.

Gday Nathan

Like you I am doing the sums to see if it is worth getting the diesel exy.
While I am not interested in diesel gas conversion I did read on another forum that the LPG rebate system does not apply to leased vehicles.
You may wish to look closer at that.
In NSW there is this website to read about http://www.gastek.com.au ( I know you are in W.A but it may give you some info.
Good luck with your decision
Regards
Kenny

Good pickup Kenny - The following Aus industry link confirms Novated Lease or Salary Sacrifice Vehicles are exluded from the rebate. Probably a useful note for the LPG thread too...

Q. What is an eligible vehicle?

A. An eligible vehicle:

• Is for private use (not commercial or business use)
• Is a passenger or light commercial vehicle less than 3.5 tonnes Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM)
• Must be registered in the Australian state or territory of residence of claimant
• Is not subject to a novated lease or salary sacrifice arrangement

Hi Jalal

I rang Nissan and all they could/would tell me is sometime in July.
Do you have any definite dates or further Australian models specs coming your way soon?
Cheers
Kenny

Kenny,

No definitive dates, except the July time-frame and the specs are all here in this thread, so it's not a secret emoticon

Re: DIESEL T31 X-TRAIL COMING JULY 2008

Hi Jalalski
when you get to test drive the diesel I would love to know the RPM at 100 KPH in 6th gear if you are able to oblige - just to get a feel for how relaxed it would be for highway cruising. I'm pretty sure the top few ratios are a bit taller with the diesel to take advantage of the torque at lower revs.
Thanks Glenn.

Re: DIESEL T31 X-TRAIL COMING JULY 2008

Hi Glenn,

It's a bit hard to do this test, as the street that are around the dealership am going to have a max of 80kms/hour speed limit and I don't wanna get booked in a diesel T31 LOL emoticon

Re: DIESEL T31 X-TRAIL COMING JULY 2008

Hi Jalalski
I thought that could be a problem! Maybe you could briefly try 50KPH in 6th gear and see what RPM's are just double to get the 100 KPH figure. That would also be an interesting test of the low rev tractability of the diesel although obviously you would not use 6th gear at such a low speed in normal driving.
Anyway I am looking forward to your impression of the diesel with great anticipation.
Glenn.

Dont be so sure in a diesel! In my Mazda diesel im in 5th gear ( 5 speed ) at 50-60kph sitting on 900/1000 rpm and it will still acelerate

Re: DIESEL T31 X-TRAIL COMING JULY 2008

Same in the Triton.. I can quite easily sit in 5th gear at 50-60kph around the same revs Matt mentioned. Turbo doesn't kick in til around 1800... and then weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
