It looks like this is quite an old link but I was wondering how people are finding their diesel X-trails and their preference between Auto/Manual. Any help much appreciated. nondisclosed_email@example.com (appels)Fri, 30 Mar 2012 22:16:23 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2058060,from=rss#post2058060https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2058060,from=rss#post2058060New or Used?nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Thu, 10 Nov 2011 16:25:23 +0000 Re: DIESEL T31 X-TRAIL COMING JULY 2008https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2058059,from=rss#post2058059https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2058059,from=rss#post205805941k for a TL diesel manual from Liverpool Nissan - with BBar and Tow bar fitted, mats and the rubber liner in the back great people, drove it back and got it registerednondisclosed_email@example.com (mosman)Thu, 10 Nov 2011 16:15:56 +0000 Re: DIESEL T31 X-TRAIL COMING JULY 2008https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2014529,from=rss#post2014529https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2014529,from=rss#post2014529$45K is drive away price. And the TL is the top of the range model. In Perth, we have higher Dealer Delivery(2K) and higher stamp duty than some of the eastern states. I would imagine you'd be about $1K - $2K less over there. But yes, they are a lot more than the advertised price, but compares well when to say a V6 outlander VRX Lux (over $50K), and XT Lux Turbo ($50K). The TD Freelander 2 is almost $60K when on road. I'd rather have an X-trail, with the 7.4lt per 100K.... We actually had to wait for two other couples to have a go first.... It's cold, wet and windy here in Perth tonight and there was no one at the car dealer.... except for the people almost queueing up to test drive the TD Xtrail. You know the cars gonna be popular when the salesman says "Gimme a call when you're ready to buy, I'm not gonna chase you, these things are gonna sell themselves." He's right, there is nothing in the price range or class with a diesel engine, except the Grand Vitara(which aren't that Grand). Hope everyone else gets to take one for a spin soon. Two words. FRIGGEN AWESOME. The engine, which was very quiet for a diesel, had soooo much torque it was awesome. The ride was sooo smooth and quiet, you wouldn't know it was a diesel, except the engine rocked!! Pretty good takeoff, the only thing I didn't like about the drive was the very grabby clutch. You didn't have to release it much for it to grab and the car to take off. The dealer said they could probably loosen it up. So, in short, 10 outa 10. I haven't driven a petrol one, so I can't compare, but it looks like we have found the car for us, even if it hard to get and more expensive than the petrol. So am I the first on this site to drive one?? That's provided the dealer has a diesel demo available by then. We will have to be blown away by the torque of the turbo-diesel to go that way what with the price of diesel and also the relative hassles of only having a couple of pumps at every (city) servo dedicated to diesel. The prospect of any engine larger than 2.0L in this climate is also a factor in the TD's favva. I'll give a drive report should the above eventuate. It'll be good for you to compare them both and 2-3 weeks isn't a long time to wait, but I might get to test drive the diesel before that and put a full report together. Am not sure why is taking them so long to release it and every dealer seems to be waiting for them to come in. Here is what I know so far: Spoke to Emily at Magic as well (pushy little thing, but seems good), she said 'a few weeks'... but that was a few weeks ago... She'll be my preference to deal with out of all the dealers... Spoke to Ben from Wangara Nissan... He said they'll be getting a few in on Friday... He said that he would call me back regaridng the price, but hasn't (i feel i might be waiting for him for a while lol) Spoke to Duncan Nissan and Canningotn Nissan as well... Both dealers said 2-3 weeks... The first rough quote was from one of those two dealers (can't remember which one), and it was $1,000 more expensive than the unleaded version... (for the TD/Ti). Apparently they have them in Australia, but there has been a stuff up with the approval plates? Dunno if it means anything to anyone... I haven't spoken to Vic Park nissan as I've had a bad experience with them before... (woulldn't use them even if they were giving them away for free!)... With the drive away price for Ti ($39,000) I'm not sure if I could wait for the diesel model to come in (esp,. if there aren't that many)... What do you guys know so far?nondisclosed_email@example.com (Hazelnuty)Thu, 17 Jul 2008 13:06:29 +0000 Re: DIESEL T31 X-TRAIL COMING JULY 2008https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2014233,from=rss#post2014233https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2014233,from=rss#post2014233I read something similar, but there are some rumors going around the web Subaru might bring out a diesel Forrester later this year... whether that turns out to be true, who knows. Cool, guess I'll have to test drive both the diesel and petrol. I was a bit worried that the petrol might not have the same offroad ability as the diesel due to the lack of torque... but after looking around this site, and seeing where the guys have taken them I'm not concerned now. Let us know what you hear John from the other dealers up north. Any ideas what a DVD/GPS/reversing camera unit would cost? Are they a nissan option, or a after market product? It's a shame Nissan aren't bringing in more of them in, they really are going to be hard to buy for the next 6 - 12 months with long waiting lists. Interesting about the sensors - couldn't be the 'soot' from the diesel that might have an impact! I want to swap out the head unit and put in a DVD/GPS/reversing camera unit anyway. I used to have a Gen 1 Forester manual but I think the X-trail is a slightly larger than even the new model and the Renault sourced diesel in the manual version should be a ripper. The only downside is the limited exit angle on the T31, which a tow bar might offer some protection against if mounted correctly. Concur about the lighter colours - white is OK and looks good too. The diesel will be cheaper to run over the years as well. 360nm is awesome on a car that size and weight. We aren't really concerned with colours, the lighter the better for taking bush. I think it was John we spoke to at Total, that was two weeks ago and he told me they were coming in that week. Last weekend we went to Duncan nissan, who were hopeless, and Magic nissan, who were good. We spoke to Emily I think. We've left our details, so hopefully we'll get a drive sooner or later, theres no rush. My wife is really keen on the x-trail, and while I like them as well, the new Forrester is also on my hit list... especially if subu follow nissan and bring out a diesel (prob won't be till next year). How far further do you think the diesel will go offroad more than the petrol x-trail do you think? Do you know that, according to Magic nissan, there are no parking sensors on the TL diesel? Weird thing to leave off.. I was advised mid next month Sounds like colours and options may be very limited. However very keen on the diesel and I think apart from the pricing difference, the low down torque is great when going off road. I run a Rexton diesel too which is a very good vehicle and enjoy both sand and hills offroad (took it to Lancelin yesterday for a frolic on the dunes with a few Xtrail friends and noticed how high they had to rev to get up some steep climbs - I would not have exceeded 2500rpm) Cheers Johnnondisclosed_email@example.com (popeclement)Mon, 14 Jul 2008 19:51:53 +0000 Re: DIESEL T31 X-TRAIL COMING JULY 2008https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2014163,from=rss#post2014163https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2014163,from=rss#post2014163Hi Chris, I would not consider the extra $4000 drive away price you mentioned because you should get most of that back at trade time as most diesel powered vehicles have a higher resale value than petrol equivalents. Whether the diesel will be worth it depends on personal preferences. I personally have been waiting a long time for this new diesel model to arrive & would have no hesitation in buying one after the glowing reports I have read from overseas. Either way, it does not matter if you buy a diesel or petrol powered X-Trail as they are both great models. This is great site for research. My wife and I are looking at a TL diesel, and went to two of the biggest nissan dealers in Perth yesterday, and were suprised by how much the dealers knew about these cars... e.g. not that much. None of them have seen one yet, even though they are supposed to be down at the docks two weeks ago. What is even more worrying is the amount each dealer will get. One dealer said they were due to get 9 diesels(I mean for the whole year.... that's it no more.... They normal get 40 odd TI's a year.), 4 TS and 5 TLs. That means that it'll be a sellers market for them, so no discounts on them like you'd expect to get on a petrol model. Most new cars, you'd expect to be able to neg a 5% - 15% discount. Do people think the diesel would be worth it, considering the $1k diff will probably grow to about $4K on drive away price?
