Re: Problem When filling up fuel tank

I'm really annoyed with my Nissan Dept as I explained to them at the 5000km pit stop that I wanted BOTH recalls performed as well them to rectify the 'faulty gauge' problem. Surprisingly they acknowledged it as a given and told me it would fixed. First chance to fill the tank since on our way up to Sydney and I'm a bar short, then next fill, two bars short...GRRR!

Looks like another trip for a "look' at it

Re: Problem When filling up fuel tank

Hi all,

This is one problem that I have had since I picked the car up in Nov 2009, so far they have replaced 3 sensors and some type of controller unit, the OHMS outputs suggest no issues but once they reset the unit its ok then the next fill or top up the problem is back.

Also the DTE indicatior is way out and I am also starting to question the actual fuel guage as I get to 3/4 and expect to put in around 16 lt but it can be as high as 25l/t and of course the dealer never has this issue but to their credit they do agree that the T 31 seems to have this issue.

I am interested to know if anyone has actually had it solved?????

Alan, I don't think it will ever be solved as they are replacing the old senders with new identical ones.
This problem will persist and unfortunately, with a lot of 07 T31's running out of warranty at the end of the year, owners will have to pay for future senders.

Tony,

Are you saying that yours wasn't fixed and it's doing the same thing after replacing the 2 sender units in the tank?

Re: Problem When filling up fuel tank

Evening Jalal,

Yes despite a total of 3 new units in two visits, 1st visit one unit then following the advice of the Forum the 2nd visit was both units the problem is occuring. Have contacted the dealer again and they have had to go back to Nissan to see what the next step is. Its a bit of a concern if they have had this issue since 2007 and its not been fixed.

I estimate 10 fills of the tank have taken place with fill 2, 3 and 4 having problems, fill 5 was fine after taking it back, fill 6 failed, fill 7 visit and ok, fill 8 failed, fill 9 back to them again and ok, fill ten this week and its out again.

Re: Problem When filling up fuel tank

Hi Alan,

Are you filling it from the same PUMP ?
Not just the same station.
Using the same pump will remove the possible effect of pump pressure, flow rate and cutoff trigger setting as a possible cause for underfilling.

Re: Problem When filling up fuel tank

Hi Kev,

Filling does not seem to be problem both myself and the dealer have filled to the very top, waited for a short time and added if possible but not a lot of fuel, so that we have both been able to see fuel in to of the nozzel.

The frustration is that they do what ever they do and its fine then once the level drops even one indicator when you top off the tank again the indicator and the DTE is out again by approximately one eight, have run to around 700 km on a tank whilst the DTE was saying anything from 450 to 630k's.

Re: Problem When filling up fuel tank

Hi tony,

I would have thought that if they have replaced the units then a new warrenty for the part starts. Could I also ask with your radiatior grill work did you have to worry about airbag sensors when taking of the front bumper?

Alan, this question is better asked in the corresponding thread.

Re: Problem When filling up fuel tank

Hey Alan,

When returning power tools for replacement, the warranty runs from the original purchase according to the retaller. Dont know if this applys.

Also reading through this thread I was wondering would these sensors have an effect on the fuel consumption displayed, as the computer may think there is less fuel in the tank than there actually is?
