Re: Problem When filling up fuel tank

Just come across this topic. My 08 X Trail is always one bar short when I fill up, expect on 2 occasions. Once when the petrol nozzle didn't automatically shut off when filling up, and petrol backwashed out of the tank all over the place. The other time it showed one bar short, but after parking it in the sun on a hot day, it finally went up to the last bar.

For the sake of "one bar", I don't think its worth the hassle for me arguing with a dealer over this warranty issue.

Les

Re:

One bar short can also happen if the car is on a slight angle when being filled.
Mine regularly, after filling up has one bar less but when I park for a while it usually shows full and stays there.

Yep mine does the exact same thing, usually shows full after I have parked.

Re:

Can anyone confirm how many marks or how far up their gauge goes in relation to the marking on the right hand side of the meter on the t31 digital display when the tank is 100% full.

Thanks,
Pete.

Re: Problem When filling up fuel tank

Obviously "Fuzzy Logic" computing involved because when full, my fuel gauge could be:
-All bars
-One bar short.
- or as James May would say slowly and in a soft voice. "Anywhere in-between"

If the petrol pump has clicked off when you filled it then it's full - what more do you want??? Does anyone really expect Nissan to be able to have an accurate fuel gauge when I still can't move the shifter out of park half the time!!!!!!!!

I'm sure my Xy is a female - so FICKLE - so advanced it doesn't just work - it has to decide (by calculating megaflops of data) to work.

At least I didn't by a female GPS (you know the one's - they don't just give voice directions, they ARGUE with you . . . he he)

I'll go quiet now.
