As such its price is no where near as negotiable as the the X. Also the X has less rear passenger room than the Forester but the X has more cargo room. It can also tow 600kg's more. The X's comfortable tow should be at around the Foresters MAXIMUM tow rating of 1400kg's. The X also has the TD engine which was the clincher for me. I was able to get my X-TS with all the extra goodies for 4 grand less than the best quote I could find for a Forester XS with the same goodies. Some of the things I prefered in the Forester were the Audio and aux in, and climate control. The power (NM not KW) of the TS is just not comparable and probably not fare to compare the two cars side by side. With the TD engine I think the X would smash the Forester in the comparisons as they are pretty close when it comes to the petrol engine. Cheers Pete PS: I am so glad they didn't just whack the D on the end of ST ie ST-D....nondisclosed_email@example.com (JugglingOgre)Thu, 12 Feb 2009 10:48:20 +0000 Re: Drive Article new Forester vs competition including X Trailhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2023755,from=rss#post2023755https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2023755,from=rss#post2023755I must say the Forestor has a small storage at the back compared to the Xtrail. I agree the T31 is a much bigger vehicle than the Forestor Regards Shanenondisclosed_email@example.com (Budgie8)Wed, 11 Feb 2009 21:26:41 +0000 Re: Drive Article new Forester vs competition including X Trailhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2022030,from=rss#post2022030https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2022030,from=rss#post2022030I had a look at the new Forester a fortnight ago in the dealership and there is no way that it has more room than the T31. Although vastly roomier than the older model, the new Forester's proportions are almost as big as a T30, with a slightly smaller boot but a little more knee room in the rear. I was a bit dissapointed with the trim fit and finish in the Subaru and I will stick my hand out and say that the series 3 T30's and T31 is are better finished cars. My only attraction to the Forester is the XT models that could make me a convert.nondisclosed_email@example.com (RATEDX)Thu, 15 Jan 2009 15:22:17 +0000 Re: Drive Article new Forester vs competition including X Trailhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2011953,from=rss#post2011953https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2011953,from=rss#post2011953Good find. Haven't started reading it yet, but for when they decide to change the article from the main page, it's also here Ok I've had a read, and am surprised they say the Forester is roomier than the X-Trail - the much more driver and front & rear passenger space/leg-room was one of the main factors we chose an X-Trail over the Forester back in 2004. Mind you, we were comparing a 99 model GT Forester to the current (then) model X-Trail; the 04 Forester didn't appear to be that much roomier than the 99 model, and it's engine was gutless (and yes, that was the newly-released 2.5L XS model back then) I wonder if the increase in passenger room they've made to the Forester is from the previous model or the earlier ones? (not that I'm even remotely considering jumping ship!) nondisclosed_email@example.com (basshead)Mon, 21 Apr 2008 20:52:28 +0000 Drive Article new Forester vs competition including X Trailhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2011951,from=rss#post2011951https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2011951,from=rss#post2011951Hi Guys, In the Drive section on April 19th (when a few of us were splashing in the mud in the Watagans) there was a review of the new Subaru Forrester and a comparo with the Outlander, Rav 4, CRV and X Trail. The Exy holds up nicely. The review is at www.drive.com.au nondisclosed_email@example.com (Zipidee)Mon, 21 Apr 2008 20:36:28 +0000
