Re:
That's right Jamie, that's why they're sold as a pack of 2 and always changed at the same time

Re: Crank angle sensor
Changed both the Cam and Crank angle sensors today. Symptons were mild intermitent miss in the engine revs, slight hesitation in acceleration. Fuel economy last tank was atrocious, lost about 60km difference off 60 litres.
Nil fault codes on Scanguage, nil MIL light on dash. no codes recorded in ECU.
2 x sensors on the QR25DE T30 are the same as pictured.
Same part for both crank and cam sensor.
Price was 112 dollars from Metro Nissan in Brisbane for the two.
Different look to the sensors I removed, however this vehicle had had the original recall done in 2003 according to Nissan records. The new sensors are the "barrell" style shiny ones. No effect on result, car started and ran fine first time.
The "miss" appears to be fixed. Fuel economy hopefully is, as well.
Did "idle learn reset" and now happily sitting on 700RPM in neautral, 640 RPM in Drive and foot on brake. (aircon off)
Bit of a pain getting the rear sensor out, but achievable with guidance from the forum past posts. Also pulled off the Knock sensor and gave it a wipe down and reinstalled it.
Cheers

Re: Crank angle sensor WATCH out
Hi guys I've recently purchased replacement for the crank angle sensor, the box came with 2 identical looking sensors however on close inspection they have different part numbers stamped on them and one has a dot. I have read posts of people replacing both only to suffer the same problems weeks later, Could it be that they have over looked the differences and have been told that they are the same.
Thanks to ROBBO0001 for his answer to my question, that they are different.
quote:
Mate, I had a nice discussion with a Nissan parts guy in Brisbane very recently, who SWORE black and blue, that the sensors are the same.
WRONG.
An awesome Nissan tech who helped me with an annoying fault confirmed (I had read it before online, think UK Xtrail site) that the sensor with the white dot is the CRANK sensor (rear of the enine) The unmarked sensor is the CAM SENSOR (top of engine near coolant sensor)
Are some people putting them in rssss about. Thanks everybody for their other posts which have helped me sort out this problem. I'm about to tackle the job now, let you know how I get on.
Regards
Steve

Re: Crank angle sensor
Hi Jamie & Vicky, thanks for the reply, did all the above and no change. Even disconnected battery and still the light comes on. Did the code recall and again it came up with 7 flashes followed by 1 quick flash and waited 5 minutes but no repeat. Car idles perfectly no misses, revs well, etc etc. Just that annoying light, it's making me a bit nervous, pretty up to date with mechanical things ie: no weird noises, rattles, squeaks, water loss etc. HELP! Just want to know car is ok, don't really trust what mechanics say as my last dealings with the local Nissan centre left me wondering how the car can have a road test without leaving the workshop if you know what I mean. Anyway back to the drawing board.
Thanks
Steve
