2009 Australian X-Trail Forum Wall Calendars
Dear Members,
Rich has suggested an excellent idea which I have been thinking over for the last month or two and now I am ready to share it with you and seek your input.
Our forum will be putting in place the design and creation of the 2009 Forum Wall Calendars capturing the very best photos submitted in 2008 by you.
Obviously we will be limited to 12 photos (plus one for the cover page) only, so not all photos will make it to the 2009 calendar, but we can look at the option of having 2 styles available.
After a bit of searching, it turns out that ordering these calendars for printing is not a huge drama at all and can be done online provided I have the high resolution version of all of the photos submitted.
The wall calendars will look something like this:
Please note that is NOT a NSW based calendar and we will try and capture photos from all States if we can.
The cost (to you) of these calendars will approx. be $30.00-$35.00 (per calendar, excl. postage) after they're printed and sent to me.
Due to the nature of this exercise, the more we order, the more discount we get, so I am aiming to order not less than 30-40 copies of this calendar for 2009.
To be fair to everyone and so that no one feels left out, we will be voting on all photos that will be included in the 2009 calendar, except the cover page, which I will design myself and show you.
We can have a selection of 3 candidate photos per month and we will vote on one of them to be selected.
Please note however that we can not afford to drag this exercise forever, as the best time to be placing orders for 2009 calendars is around May-June 2008 to get the best possible price, so this voting exercise will be swift and short and may include voting for all 12 months together as separate polls.
Let me know what you think and we can start the ball rolling based on your thoughts.

Re: 2009 Australian X-Trail Forum Wall Calendars
Are you mixing up the photos or have you considered grouping them by season ?
As an example, beach photos around summer, maybe cold/snow photos around winter (if we can find some), forest trail photos in autumn and other photos (???) in spring.
I'd get one for my work desk instead of the oh-so-boring supplier calendars

Re: 2009 Australian X-Trail Forum Wall Calendars
Thanks Guys,
Just like with the forum stickers, the selection of the calendar photos won't please everyone, but we need to think of this as a community effort and something that represents our forum as a whole, rather than just a display of a personal ride in a calendar format, so with that in mind, I will be asking you to start submitting your best pics (2 per member) in this thread and myself and Noel will select 3 for each month ensuring that they don't clash in any way, so we don't end-up voting for 3 of the best photos for one month or for 3 NSW or QLD rides in one month and leave the rest disadvantaged.
What I would like to avoid happening, is getting only 12 orders from those featured in the calendar and the rest of members not bothering to buy it because their photo was not selected to be featured in it. That would be a disaster and a great loss to our forum financially, not to mention a complete waste of effort.
Kev: I haven't thought about grouping the photos, but since we're limited to 12 photos per calendar and considering we have so many members with great photos in hand, I think I won't group them and we will just choose the best pics regardless of where they were taken.
I have just placed an order for trial calendar to see the print quality, I chose photos to my liking just to test, so it would be interesting to see how it turns out.

Re: 2009 Australian X-Trail Forum Wall Calendars
Brett,
The high resolution photos can be posted directly into this thread as thumbnails. It only needs to be about 1.5MB to 2MB in size to be a high resolution for the calendar.
I'd rather see all high resolution pics included in this thread right from the start, to avoid having to chase-up members later on for a pic which they may not have anymore.
You better get the high resolution pic for your avatar cause I tried in the calendar test and it warned me that it is low res. and will be blurry.

Hi Guys,
I have designed the 2009 calendar cover and this is how it'll look:
My photo submission for the 2009 calendar voting poll will be this one (thanks to Eric for a top class photo)

A mix of posed pics of cleans exys with a good dose of off road action would be cool.
The calendar needs to be eye catching and a bit exciting to reflect our forum as best as possible, so we need to aim to include all special photos in it as much as we can, instead of just a parked exy in the driveway type of thing. But if that is all you have, it doesn't matter and it will still be considered for the vote.
Clean exys will be fine as well, but the photo needs to be taken in a nice surrounds and preferably nature rather than showing your neighbor's house in the background LOL
I think you guys get the idea, so let's see some pics.
