Sat nav DVD unit connections

My xtrail came with the built in sat nav but the voice drives me nuts and its always switched off. i was wondering if its a stereo or mono input from the dvd unit to the hifi head unit.

I'm asking cus if it's stereo then i got a AUX input!!!! emoticon

Next questions would be if so, how do get access to the dvd unit (rear) and what are the connection pin outs.

Thanks in advance emoticon

I'm in the market for a satnav for my T30 - you don't happen to know where to find a replacement/new one do you?

hi Nosfer
What model did your friend get and also how much did he pay for it?

Also can he still use the controls on the steering wheel? (Might be a stupid question, but just curious!!)

thanks
Samuel

The other option is VMS (around $2500) it is quite expensive, however you do get GPS including topographic maps bluetooth iPod and USB not to mention digital TV

VMS Australia

Re: Sat nav DVD unit connections

I bought one of the Chinese units off fleabay formy kluger. It was amazingly featured but the audio controls on the steering wheel would not work to control it so that was a bummer. Also the touch screen wouldsometimes stay black (this was a screen saver feature) on starup for 5 minutes or so before turning on - intermittent problem. The GPS with route 66 was awesome. I'd consider getting a DVD for my new Diesel TS but don't want to lose the steerinf wheel controls.

The Witson one's look very similar to the one i got but interestingly they show a Nissan OEM one - http://www.witson.com/view_pro.php?id=1373

It is for the Dualis but the wheel controls look identical to the Diesel wheel, I wonder if it would work with the x-trail??

Re: Sat nav DVD unit connections

Sorry if this sounds silly but do you loose the 6 stacker cd that comes with the car?
and if so do these sat navs play cds as well?

not up with this stuff as yet.

Regards Scot

Re: Sat nav DVD unit connections

Yes they do play CD's and DVD's Scot, with MP3 support, but you only have the single disc in the unit. If your 6-stacker is a separate unit from your head unit, you will probably be able to plug it into the Aux input (if available) otherwise you will loose your stacker capability.
