Newnes Trip - March '08.

Guys,

Let's start planning a good day of off-roading adventure in the Newnes National Park for March to give everyone time to get the day off. Prefferably a Sunday.

This trip will follow that taken by Ron in his recent club trip to the area and can be found HERE
 for further details.

This trip is open to all forum members and their friends and the tracks will easily covered in a standard x-trail or other soft-roader. We will however, try and find some more difficult tracks to test out the x-trail abilities and to put the BT-50 through it's paces. emoticon

Date: Saturday, March 8th.
Meeting place: Zig Zag railway, Newnes. Off the Bells Line of Road.
 Starting time: 9-10am
Lunch: Bungaloori Camp Ground. Picnic or bbq option.

Further details and discussions to follow when numbers start to roll-in.

For those new to the forum, don't be discouraged by having no modifications to your vehicle. This area is not difficult and there is minimal risk of damage to your vehicles.

Any of the dates look good for me at the moment. Sunny Side trail (between Sunny side road and Blackfellows hand trail) is graded "hard" by the boiling billy book (Trek to Newnes).

Ditto for me. Bring on the "hard" tracks!

Re: Newnes Trip - March '08.

So we can get the maximum numbers to this trip, can those interested please state their preferences to either Saturday or Sunday.
We have narrowed the dates down to March 8-9 and 15-16. Nothing confirmed yet.

The day will probably commence between 8am and 9am and the Zig Zag railway, so it will be easier for those who have to drive some distance to get there.

The day will be a relaxed pace, with lunch at the middle camping ground at Bungleboori Picnic Area and will probably finish around 3pm or 4pm west of the National Park near Lidsdale and Lithgow Maccas for a cuppa and debrief.

Hopefully those travelling can then drive home at a reasonable hour, but a side option to Newnes will be considered if time permits. It is daylight savings, after all. emoticon

In like Flynn, lets show those Queenslanders that we can get a turnout.

Now if it were not for the damn National Park no dogs rules....

Anyway looks like we have 6. Whats the record for members at a trip?

(or is that 5 + 1 BT 50)

jasere, can you make this trip?
