Re:

I can see what the T30 owner has done, he just removed the end caps of his roof rails (being an ST it wouldn't have come with a roof spoiler) and then removed the plastic trims inside the boot area to access the one bolt holding that end cap without the need to remove the roof lining in full, he then used that bolt to create a 3rd mounting point for the 3rd roof rack.

It's clever indeed but that bolt and that fixing point won't be rated to hold anything heavy, so if the 3rd roof rack is only being used as "support" for long items like a kayak for example, it's fine, but to use with a load is not recommended at all.

Re:

Not exactly a simple third rack addition, this product utilises an entire laser-cut rail replacement, to mount their roof rack/platform, which is rated up to 120kg!

Here's the correspondence I had with the company that makes them.

Figured people may be interested in such a thing, as its basically the only full length roof rack/platform that I've found to even exist for the xtrail.

Re:

They use this style of rack on the new FJ cruisers as they have the long plastic rail as well as a curved roof line.
Seems to be very strong as the load point covers the entire rail, even though it is plastic underneath.

Re:

I like how low to the roof it is. Will reduce drag compared to roof rack / basket combos.

How much does it weigh? The roof limit on s1/2/3 t31 is 75kg. For s4/5 it was increased to 100kg. Curious to know how much this bites into it

Re:

Considering the structure/suspension is identical? Why would there be a difference in weight limitations between the series?

No all the same Ian.
Would be a bugger to wash underneath it though.

Re:

I'm confused, so it IS all the same? Or it's not? I thought all differences between the series' were only cosmetic? Either way, that limit won't affect what I'm doing with mine. I won't be using that rack, I just thought I'd post this discovery for the benefit of others. It's never easy sourcing options for the xtrail.
