Re:

To measure a lift properly it has to be done from the centre of the wheel to the underside of the guard.

It all depends on cargo and fuel load as well.

Re: T31 Suspension Lift & AirBag Asst

Has anyone re-measured the heights of their X-trails a few months down the track after having raised springs fitted? I've had a bit of sag after 5000KM with the ARB OME (King!) springs, and am considering switching to another brand if they don't sag as much...

Will check out the pedders on the week end for you and will let you know!

All looks fine but will take the measures for you!

Re: T31 Suspension Lift & AirBag Asst

I just had Dobinsons springs installed last Friday. Haven't taken a measurement yet, but I can notice the increased gap between the wheel arch and the wheel.
I went for Dobinsons because they have a reputation for making 'stronger' springs. As in, they are less prone to sag over time. This would suggest that the ride harshness will increase, but so far this hasn't happened.
The real test will be when the wife drives the car, if she doesn't say anything, I'm sweet.

Sorry gents,
I don't mean to be a smart arse, but why are you guys changing your springs out. It will sacrifice your unloaded load ride quality, and it cost a fortune. I saw a quote for $700. I offered to put poly helper air bags in for a fraction of the cost. Hell, I’ll supply them for less, and you do them yourself.
I have done over 15000kms on mine, nil issues. I deflate them to 2-5psi when not towing, and 20psi when I have my race car in tow (trust me it has a significantly higher tow ball load than any caravan might have (a lot more than I am happy with, but that is another story). Save your self a lot of money, I am happy to supply a kit for as little as $150, or fit it (if Adelaide) for $250. Also, I am not a business just an Xtrail owner.
Cheers Dave

Re:

It's been a while since I have been active in the forum but I thought I'd share some info , I have just replaced the springs on my T31 2008 xtrail with Pedders lift springs . It only took 4 hours and $600 . The insurance company was happy too. No extra to pay : ) Now for the Test , I'll have to take it off road and give it a run .

I looked at air bags , but I don't have a load weight issue ( I don't carry heavy stuff ) and they don't lift the xtrail ,just support the weight .I guess If I was carrying or towing more I may consider it, also what was on offer was just for the rear not the front !

If all you want to do is to stop the rear end sagging when you have a full load on board, what do you get springs or will the airbags do?

Airbags will do if you need to stop sag under load.

Re: T31 Suspension Lift & AirBag Asst

I put air bags in my rear springs for that reason. You can see them on page 21 of this thread. I have done 30,000km and they are fantastic.
