Im looking at a set of suitable Kings Springs to lift my X Trail ... found a set if 4 on ebay for equivalent of AU$350 ..which seems to include delivery to Philippines ...altho.. the listing isnt very clear.. cannot find absolute confirmation of that ...asked the seller & waiting response the listing specifically says T31 Petrol and confirms the part nos are correct for petrol ..KDFR-94 & KDRR-95. Did I read somewhere in this thread that the front springs are handed for left & right? ...with a R & L suffix on the front part no.? ...or am I thinking of something else?! My other question is ...this seems a really good price...especially since it seems to include delivery ..& 4 springs are HEAVY! ..the seller is ARCHM Industries from Bayswater, Melbourne..... anyone heard of them?... anyone bought from them?..they seem legit? UPDATE ..please disregard....seller finally got back to me ...they dont ship overseas..lol so...anyone know ANYONE who will ship a set of Kings or Dobinsons springs overseas? nondisclosed_email@example.com (Bertoknee)Wed, 28 Nov 2018 13:40:16 +0000 Re: T31 Suspensionhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2093469,from=rss#post2093469https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2093469,from=rss#post2093469I did the Kings springs upgrade on my 2008 Diesel with 205k on the clock over teh end of year break and I could not be happier with the improvement in handling. The rear of the T31 is springs and shocks independently. I did find a how to guide in a previous post however there was a lot of extra work i didn't undertake. I just used a set of spring compressors which worked a treat. You can pickup a set grom most auto stores for around $50. If its a one of mod this is plenty. The fronts are a little more tricky but mot impossible. I have done this once before on an outlander with 100% success. The key is to mark all points where springs start and end and where the strut plate cover lines up. In regards to the struts and shocks, they should be changed at approx 100k but if there is no regular offroading it may not be necessary. I took my xy to a lical pedders and for $35 received a report on the state of the struts and shocks. Well worth the money.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Tomkazz)Mon, 27 Jun 2016 23:39:40 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2091487,from=rss#post2091487https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2091487,from=rss#post2091487Thanks!! nondisclosed_email@example.com (Danmate7)Mon, 27 Jun 2016 23:23:12 +0000 Re: T31 Suspension Lift & AirBag Assthttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2091486,from=rss#post2091486https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2091486,from=rss#post2091486Hi McBain01, The more common upgrade is a set of king springs. This gives approx 30mm of lift with no major mods. The set is going to cost $320. I just bought a set from Bursons in Adelaide. If you have a petrol model you need KDFR94 and KDFR95. If you have diesel you need KDFR94HD AND KDFR95. it costs approx $360 to fit. Hope this helps a little.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Tomkazz)Mon, 27 Jun 2016 23:20:50 +0000 Re: T31 Suspension Lifthttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2091382,from=rss#post2091382https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2091382,from=rss#post2091382Hi all, Would some on here please make list all products / stock numbers they have used to lift there T31 X Trails eg springs, shock absorbers, strutsand air bags and an.y other components used. I decided to fit airbags based on the advice from TJM when I purchased a Tyre Trek tyre carrier with dual jerry can holders. I'm heading to Birdsville/North Queensland in late June with my partner and her sister and with the additional weight at the rear and on the roof, not to mention inside the car, I could see the need for supporting the rear suspension as much as possible, as well as levelling the Exy up to improve the handling. Prior to getting Pedders to do the job I had priced sets on-line and could have picked them up for $325 and take around an hour each side to fit. For $565 Pedders supplied and fitted the airbags, did a 4 wheel alignment and inspected all the suspension. Gotta say I'm pretty happy with the job and I think having a full 2 year warranty is worth the extra cost to have them fitted. nondisclosed_email@example.com (whip62)Thu, 26 May 2016 23:31:34 +0000 Re: T31 Suspension Lift & AirBag Assthttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2091149,from=rss#post2091149https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2091149,from=rss#post2091149Ok, here are the new and old springs, Front Rear       Before After  nondisclosed_email@example.com (TopGun65)Sat, 23 Apr 2016 16:27:58 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2091085,from=rss#post2091085https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2091085,from=rss#post2091085No worries Eric, you've done the hard part which is creating a PB account, the rest is easy You can head over to the Test Section of the forum and practise copying the image links from PhotoBucket into your post to see how they look.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Wed, 13 Apr 2016 11:33:03 +0000 Re: T31 Suspension Lift & AirBag Assthttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2091084,from=rss#post2091084https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2091084,from=rss#post2091084Thanks Jalal, will do. The ride improvement is very noticeable (not to mention the looks), staying nice and flat while cornering. The bumps on the road are more noticeable than before.  Excellent DIY instructions Simon. The only thing I didn't have to do was disengage the driveshafts from the rear diff, guess I got lucky. Otherwise it took me around 6 hours on my own, and that included changing the Engine Serpentine Belt and bleeding the brakes. Now, with the extra clearance, I'm looking forward to hitting Bribie Island next week.nondisclosed_email@example.com (TopGun65)Tue, 12 Apr 2016 16:55:21 +0000 Re: T31 Suspension Lift & AirBag Assthttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2090562,from=rss#post2090562https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2090562,from=rss#post2090562Tried out the lifted exy at Bribie Island. The sand on the Poverty Creek/Northern Access track was reasonably firm after some light showers. Still, the extra clearance really helped in the soft stuff. There was minimal scraping of the 'sand hill' between the ruts, compared to fairly regular scraping before. Also noticed a lot less sand in the engine bay (previously it seemed to get sand all through). Lovin' the lift from the springs and larger tyres. nondisclosed_email@example.com (SimonC)Sun, 14 Feb 2016 19:37:06 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2090559,from=rss#post2090559https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2090559,from=rss#post2090559I just got my T31 done at Suspension Supplies Australia at Northgate (Queensland). Inspired, I put in King Springs on the Australia Day Long Weekend. Thought I'd write down what I experienced, hoping it helps others. I'm not overly experienced with mechanical work, so it took a while.... but got there in the end. Please use this as a help, but at your own risk! Front springs: 1. Jack up & support on stands. Remove wheels. 2. Use a hammer & screwdriver, knock out the brake hose lock plate. 3. If present, remove cap from upper end of stabiliser bar connecting rod. Remove the nut. Then remove stabiliser bar con rod from strut. 4. Place a tyre under the disc, to rest it when it drops down 5. Undo the two nuts holding the steering knuckle to the strut (21 mm), and knock out the bolts. 6. Unclip the rubber grommets holding the wheel sensor wire in place 7. Under the bonnet, locate the two bolts that hold the strut in place. Remove them both. 8. On the plastic molding nearby, there is a round plug. Use a screwdriver to remove it. 9. Put 13 mm socket on an extension, down the hole, and onto the third strut bolt. Loosen it, but leave the screw in the hole. Don't try to remove it - can be tricky to reposition. 10. Remove the strut. 11. Wrap a metal strap (I cut a bit of gal sheet) around the strut and clamp in vise. 12. Apply penetrating oil to the piston rod lock nut. It can work in while springs are being compressed. 13. Apply and tighten spring compressors until you can rotate the top strut bearing rubber by hand 14. Place 18 mm offset ring spanner on piston rod lock nut. Place 6 mm Socket hex into the top of the piston rod, and attach to breaker bar. (Socket hex cost $6 from local tool store). Undo the lock nut. 15. Remove spring. Clean out the grit from inside the top mounting bearing (run under a hose and spin it around). Clean out the grit from around the rubbers at the bottom. 16. Reverse the process to put it all back together. Use a torque wrench: * Piston rod lock nut - 68 Nm * Strut top bolts - 19 Nm * Steering knuckle bolts - 142 Nm * Stabiliser bar con rod nut - 84 Nm Rear springs: 1. Jack up & support on stands. Remove wheels. 2. Remove two brake caliper mounting bolts. Use a bit of wire to hang the caliper out of the way. 3. Remove wheel sensor from axle housing. The wheel sensor is at the rear, and has a securing screw. Once the screw is removed, it can be wiggled in the hole to loosen it and work it out. 4. Put jack under suspension arm. 5. Remove shock absorber lower nut/bolt. Can also remove the disc rotor (release handbrake) 6. Remove bolt connecting lower link to the suspension arm 7. Remove bolt connecting upper link to the suspension arm Here's where the tricky bits start.... there may be multiple ways to do this.... 8. Find the end of the drive shaft near the gearbox. Slide the cover piece outward to loosen it (had to use a screwdriver to lever it). 9. Knock the suspension arm outwards at the top and bottom, until the drive shaft disengages with the gearbox. 10. Once this is done, lower the jack to remove tension off the spring, and get it out. Reverse the process to install, noting: 1. It was tricky to pull the suspension arm back in again. I used a ratchet/cable (these are used for fencing, vehicle recovery etc). Cost $55 from local store. That made it easy. 2. Bolt torques: * shock absorber bolt - 120 Nm * upper/lower link bolts - 150 Nm * caliper mounting bolts - 84 Nm * sensor bolt - 10 Nmnondisclosed_email@example.com (SimonC)Sun, 31 Jan 2016 13:29:41 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2089137,from=rss#post2089137https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2089137,from=rss#post2089137Funnily enough I've gone the other way, I was wasn't happy with the non-HD springs from Pedders. Pedders have increased their prices. I paid $880 inc. wheel alignment for 4 springs. If that price includes 4 HD shocks, then it becomes reasonable. My rear pedders trak HD shocks leaked after <2 years. Sure there was a bit of towing, nothing too bad... but disappointed to see leeks after about 18 months. Also, pedders installed the standard springs on my diesel, so after a year they were back to stock height. Today I purchased HD king springs for the front. A T30 supposedly can have a 50mm lift. I had a Pedders spring lift mid 2011 and found it very useful for when I toured Fraser Island later that year. My recollection is that the cost was about $650 all up. Like factory, Kings rears coils are common to both diesel and petrol. - KDRR-95 The diesel has slightly stiffer coils from the factory at the front and KINGS has KDFR-95HD for the diesel and KDFR-94 for the petrol. My diesel has KINGS set up, which is going very well. Changing to KINGS SPRINGS has eliminated the horrendous rear tyre wear it suffered from new. (6 rear tyres chewed up in the first 35,000km before it carried more than the weekly shopping towed anything!) Pedders are more expensive than KINGS. Most importantly, Kings are upfront about what you get. They are happy to tell you their product is 30% stiffer than factory and will give you approx. 20mm lift over factory. Pedders won't tell you anything, except, trust us and pay us more than our very successful competitor, so there is no way on earth I'd fork out a massive amounts of money for an undefined Pedders product. Based on my results. I'm more than happy to ay that I highly recommend KINGS SPRINGS to anyone whose XTrail is chewing rear tyres or thinks that their factory suspension is too soft.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Charlie250)Tue, 23 Dec 2014 22:48:46 +0000
