Re: The Chrome Exy will soon be seen in QLD

Enjoy the trip mate, but watch out for those speed cameras.

Most of them are run by the RTA and/or subcontracted out locally.

I once passed a burgendy xtrail camera car hiding in the cane fields further north. You wil see large 4wd's, mini buses and even ones on overhead bridges. Especially over the school holiday period. Of interest also, in a similar way as in the ACT, a lot of intersections have both red light cameras and also speed cameras attached. So if you speed up to run the orange/red light, the speed camera will get you.

Damn revenue raisers.

Re: The Chrome Exy will soon be seen in QLD

I was thinking that too last night as I was browsing, wondering whether we would get any response from the Queenslanders or not. emoticon

C'mon guys, surely there's some more of us interested in meeting up with Jalal while he's visiting our fair state. Jump in, put your name down and let's catch up for a BBQ and a chat somewhere. emoticon

If there's only going to be a few, you can all rock up to my place and we can BBq and swim the afternoon away if this makes it easier.

Let me know guys!

Re: The Chrome Exy will soon be seen in QLD

Hi Jamie

Been a bit slow in replying. Here are my experiences with some of the spots you mentioned.

O’Reilly’s
Is about a two hour drive from Brisbane there is plenty of car parking spots, a picnic area (not sure how many tables) National Park camp ground. The start of various long and short walks. Short walks include the tree tops walk that involves climbing up to tree level and rainforest gardens walk. At O’Reilly’s resort there is a restaurant bar and a coffee shop. An option to get to O’Reilly’s is the 4-wheel drive track from Beaudesert (which I haven’t been on or know the condition of the track)

Bina Burra
Is a shorter drive from Brisbane there is less parking spots and a smaller picnic area. There is also a Camp ground / Resort with a coffee shop / restaurant. Also the start of various walks into the rain forest

Tamborine
If you go up to Tamborine its hard to go past the pub for food with a view. The pub has plenty of parking don’t know if it has a children’s area. The few times I have been there they have been busy so there was a wait for the food. There are other spots up there that offer great views I am not sure how big their picnic areas are.

Springbrook
Not to sure about this area have been to the national park and is a nice walk.

There is a nice drive around the border ranges I just don’t paying eight bucks to drive through the national park.

Being on the 30 December all spots could be busy

Jalal do you have any place in particular you would like to see? And don’t forget when you cross the border have your NSW flag at half mask or fly a Queensland flag. Hehehe

Regards
Jeff

Am new to this area mate, so I have no idea what places to see, except I know we will be staying at the Gold Coast and going to Theme Parks LOL emoticon

I won't have the NSW flag with me, but will have my NSW Xtrail plates which I can't lower anyway. hehehehehe emoticon

I'll bring the NISSAN flag with me which is neutral emoticon

Hi Jamie/Jalal,

I should be around - and would be happy to meet up if I can.

"An option to get to O’Reilly’s is the 4-wheel drive track from Beaudesert (which I haven’t been on or know the condition of the track) "

I was up there a couple of weeks ago and the track is a little rougher but still very good condition- we stopped half way up for lunch. The flies were brutal though.

I have a trip report on duck creek road which is what the road is called.

Hi Tony.

I'm not too sure Jalal wants to take the Chrome Exy off road (???? emoticon) but meeting up at Canungra Vineyard for lunch and then a drive up to O'Riellys (on the tar road) could be a good run to show off the Exy's.

I'm going to send a few emails to the Qld'ers to see if I can generate a bit more interest in this outing. I guess everyone's busy at this time of the year and haven't had a chance to log in and check it out.

I am pretty sure i should be available to catch up for a BBQ, as Jamie said it is a very busy time of year - has the date been confirmed 29th or 30th?
Thanks,
Scott.

Hi Scott,

Date confirmed is 30th as no one else has replied with any preference, location still to be decided. Will have to make a decision on that soon though. emoticon

Re: The Chrome Exy will soon be seen in QLD

Christmas / new years is such a busy time!

We are going to be up the sunshine coast for the period between Christmas and new years, then going up the beach to Teewah (Noosa north shore) so we won't be able to make it.

Its a shame as it would be great to say hi, and show you the exy with its additions!
