Don't know if this has been posted before but found it interesting.
Shows JATCO production facilities and comments on CVT production.
There are going to be a LOT of CVT's out there!!!

Am glad the chief engineer at JATCO agrees with my (our) assessment that the CVT of the future requires a more powerful start and acceleration to make it more attractive and move us away from taking off in a "tank" emoticon

Re:

Nice little video, thanks for sharing.
Even the CVT is destined for manufacture in Thailand as well, seems the current trend for manufacturers lately.
As you said there are a lot of CVT's out there at the moment and by the looks of it, the current auto will be a thing of the past if they keep churning them out the way they are now.

Re: Re:

I'm wondering whether or not a modified version of "launch control" would work with the CVT box?

I.e. : Place selector in Drive, select AWD: place left foot on brake: apply accelerator with right foot: when revs reach 3000 rpm ( or best part of torque band), release footbrake while increasing accelerator...

Theoretically it should take off like a scalded cat.

Unsurprisingly I am reluctant to test the theory on my own (newish) car.

Have fun emoticon

But can you do such thing like but in D, revs about at 2500rpm and release the brake? I would try this on gravel.

Re:

Not sure about CVT but I tried the rocket launch technique in the T30 and it didn't bring any favourable results when I was doing the 0-100kms test run after fitting the Hi-Tech full exhaust system.

Haven't tried it in the CVT yet, so am gonna ask my wife if she can do it LOL emoticon

Re: X-Trail T31 - CVT transmission

I believe applying the foot brake disables the throttle.

This was noticed when trying to go through difficult terrain and in a normal 4WD a little brake pressure aided traction - doesn't work on the Exy!!! Engine returns to idle.
