Re: Nudge Bars for the new X-Trail T31

well I think we can definately assume that they are not airbag compliant. Contacted them yesterday asking if they were airbag compliant and they were going to check and get back to me, still waiting with no reply. I think if they were airbag compliant they would be able to tell me on the spot and not take more than 24hrs to get back to me. Rox

Re: Nudge Bars for the new X-Trail T31

I emailed the company and got the below reply in relation to airbag compliance and whether it fits the diesel.

"Yes the bar is supplied with a compliance label.
Our suppliers advise that it fits all T31 X Trails, however as this is a new product line for us I will have fitment checked within on a diesel vehicle within 48hrs and advice."

Gut feeling is to keep away from any imported bars and stick with aussie made even though it is couple hundred dearer. Quoted $720 for the ECB.

Gee did they think that response would make you feel at ease in buying one just because it has an airbag compliant label though doesn't mean it is airbag compliant. I know we didn't import nudge bars but, I used to work for a company that imported italian cooking products, we had to have certain compliance stickers on our products that we could buy in bulk and put on ourselves. They would test maybe 1/1000 appliances and didn't retest if there was a change made by the factory. The factory would send an email to say it complied so that is what they went off. The companies in Italy based alot of stuff on their own legal requirements not ours. I like to stick to Australian made because I know we have stronger regulations. Chinese products (not all) have a reputation for being a bit dodgey.

It's not a compliance "label" they need to provide, it's the compliance certificate that they must show with all nudge bars.

Jalal, I thought that was the case as I specifically asked about a certificate. Interestingly I was suppose to get a reply regarding diesel compatibility within 48 hours. All quite on that front. I will definitely be staying clear of their nudge bars.

Hi Guys,

Those of you in WA might wanna check out the nudge bar being offerred by Parkside Towbars

Personally I prefer the higher bar, that is a low bar and if anyone is interested it is available fitted from Codys for $560.oo (fitted at home) - that's $35 cheaper than Parkside themselves.

Re: Nudge Bars for the new X-Trail T31

A company over here in the west is doing nudge bars at $385 - $478 fitted for the low profile or $435 -$528 fitted for the high profile; and they are air bag compliant.

I got their name from my Brother in law who has had a bull bar and several other items from them without any complaint - in fact he reckons that they are really helpful. He convinced me and I rang them today to be helped by a very courteous and helpful owner/manager.

Re: Nudge Bars for the new X-Trail T31

G'Day All,

Have just successfully installed an ECB Series 2 Nudge bar to our Diesel.

Comprehensive fitting instructions included, but there are a few frustrating omissions. The company have asked for feedback, and we have provided this ... but in the meantime, if anybody is interested in installing one of these themselves, we would be happy to provide a few additional and important steps for you to follow - just reply to this.

Allow a good 6-8 hours depending on your dexterity!!

Cheers

Were all your instructions in black and white as well?
I had trouble deciphering which plastic bits to cut off.

Re: Nudge Bars for the new X-Trail T31

G'Day Tony,

Instructions in black and white, but there were some colour pics ... which unfortunately didn't explain too much.

No, I didn't have a clue what to "trim" either - there was nothing sticking out anywhere to trim!! So I thought it was much safer not to "trim" any damned thing! I have pointed this out to them in the feedback, asking them if they meant that a slit or slot was meant to be cut in the spots they show in the photos ... but no dimensions were shown, so as I've said I simply left the area as it was.

Bar seems quite good/solid though, and we will put the new lightforces on in the next few days .... assuming I can remember how to mount spotties!! They've sat in their box in the shed waiting for all the hoo-hah about which bar we were going to buy to blow over!!

Cheers,
