Re: The FIRST Test Drive of Series III (Impressions and Review)
RJ,
1. To get the spare out you will need to remove the false floor along with the drawer/s. The exy comes with one drawer only, but a second drawer can be ordered as an additional accessory.
2. The xtrail is still rated at 2000Kg for towing, for both Manual and Auto (trailer with brakes)

Now that I see the glovebox, I think everything will fall out when you open it.

Depends on what and how you stack things in there I guess

Re: The FIRST Test Drive of Series III (Impressions and Review)
Went to the motor show today and had a good look over the T31
My first impressions-
Inside-
Up front---
Rach abd I both liked the new interior layout. The driving position feels very comfortable. The dash dosnt look cheap and nasty like the T30. The 4wd selector is kind of in an awkward position, but its not really a big deal. The cup holders on the dash seem to be a bit smaller, but i guess im just nit picking. The door trims are nice and seemed to be resisting all the scratches cars at motor shows usually get. The doors feel very solid when being opened and closed. We couldnt really fault the interior
The Hatch area---
I didnt really like the draws, they seem to be very flimsy. Nice idea, just not very well done for the cars intended usage. Time will tell i guess, i could be wrong.....
It has a lot of useable space, especialy with the smaller wheel arches due to the new suspension under the back. Looks like it is going to be a pain to get the spare out. I think that they should have had the spare underneath the back like the pathfinder.
Outside-
Im sorry, but i just dont like it will need to see a few on the road before i change my mind!
The headlights look to weird, eyelids might help, but with the way the bonet comes around them, it will proberly still look strange. I hated the plastic that runs around the bottom of the car and around the wheel arches, Why Nissan!?!?!? If they were colour coaded it might look better. There are no bump strips anymore, which looks good but will be more prone to coping carpark dents.
From the side, it looks to bulky at the rear. It looks as if the depature angle has been massivly reduced ( havent checked the dimensions yet, it could be an illusion)
The 17s look nice. But with a 215/60/17 tyre it might make finding all terrain tyres that little bit harder.
Underneath-- As jalal said everything seems tucked up and out of the way. It will need some bash plates if you are planing to hit the dirt.
Overall--- If i was in the market for a new soft roader, i would buy one! The interior is spot on, and i guess i would get used to the styling, its definatly different, but far from ugly!

Re: The FIRST Test Drive of Series III (Impressions and Review)
Thanks for the review Matt, which seems to be in line to what I felt about it too, so it's comforting to know that I wasn't the only one who liked and disliked some things about the T31, but as you stated, if I was in the market for one and didn't drive a T30 that has been modified so much, I would definitely go for it.
When I looked at the T31, I was looking at it from a "modifications perspective" straight away, it's my in my blood stream now and I was straight away looking at how things can be "enhanced"
I can tell you there is NO solution to the headlights and no eyelids can fit this design, as the top half of the headlight is being used for the turning signals
As for the bump strips or door mouldings, this problem has been solved already and a solution is already available for that. There are door moulding which look exactly like the T30 that fit on the doors and they complete the look of the T31.

Re: The FIRST Test Drive of Series III (Impressions and Review)
I saw a blue one at the 4WD show in Adelaide on the weekend, nice!!!
I was a bit unsure of the front, I think the bumpers look a bit bulky & those mouldings around the arches & bottom of the doors seem to me to reduce the clearance. Hooray for the muffler though, it still looks like a 20 gallon drum but it is up out of the way.
I don't think the drawers would last too long if you had a fridge or other weighty gear sitting on top of them & a pain to get at the spare.
Quite like the dash despite getting used to looking in the centre & the general layout looks good & a useable passenger glovebox.
I had a look under the bonnet & couldn't see where to put the TBS & don't think the strut bar would fit in as there is a plastic moulding that protrudes forward quite a way.
Overall I am not sure that I would upgrade, I would definately need a test drive to convince me.
Now where is that winning lottery ticket????

Re: The FIRST Test Drive of Series III (Impressions and Review)
Hi Guys,
Just came back from Sydney Motor Show and they had the Ti and ST-L over there.
I can now confirm that the centre arm-rest is still as useless (i.e. too low) as it used to be and can not be used to lean on at all
On the bright side, Nissan did include a compartment for the sunnies
The Ti had the leather pack, but for some weird reason Nissan decided to have the stitching done in white on black leather seats...yack
The Ti also comes with 4 reverse sensors as standard, 2 of them are in the bumper on the corners and the other 2 sensors are on the tailgate and lift-up with the tailgate as well.
