G'day Jalal,
I like the look of that large armrest! have you had any success fitting it as yet?
Are these armrests likely to be the object of a group buy?

Regards,

Shane.

Re: Centre Arm Rest

Hi Shane,

I haven't had the time to test fit any of them as yet, been very busy with everything else and time seems to fly, especially on weekends.

You're welcome to buy and test fit the large arm-rest yourself if you want to and I can then test the two small ones when I get the chance.

If interested, email me.

As for the group-buy for these, not sure at this stage cause they're not cheap, but we can look at this option later when we test fit them.

Re: Centre Arm Rest

Hi Guys,

I finally found the time to test fit the arm-rests and here are the results:

1. The test fitting was done WITHOUT causing any damage to the leather upholstery, as I wanted to see how it looked before cutting the leather seats, so only the foam was cut to go around the mounting cylinder.

Image

2. The mounting bracket supplied fits perfectly in place and gets attached by loosening the bottom two bolts and another screw that goes at the top of the bracket. VERY solid fit indeed.

Image

3. Then came the part where I fitted the large arm-rest in place and wanted to see how it impacted my centre console box. The centre box I currently have is the multi-purpose one with 2 folding lids, so it is higher than the factory one.

I unfolded one lid to back seats and kept the other lid in place. This didn't work well at all and while the large arm-rest did fit in place with one lid folded and the other one unfolded to back seats, there is no way I could open the lid to gain access to the lower storage box, even if the large arm-rest is folded up. The thing that stops the lid from opening is the round mounting cylinder that is coming-out of the seat.

4. I then decided to remove the multi-purpose centre console box and swap it with the factory one that came with the car to see how it fitted in place. Same problem, there is is no way you will be able to keep the upper lid, so it has to be removed leaving the bottom storage box exposed.

5. I also tested fitted the smaller arm-rest (just the driver's side at this stage, as the passenger side will fit exactly the same way) The mounting cylinder is the same for both type of arm-rests, so it is only a matter of sliding the large arm-rest off and sliding in the small arm-rest.

This concludes the testing-fitting process.

IMPRESSIONS:
==============

1. Very well and professionally made product and the quality of leather is superb.
2. Very easy to fit and all instructions supplied.
3. Very practical in terms of arm-rest usability and the height of the arm-rest is also adjustable by using a wheel at the bottom of each arm-rest.
4. The exposed lower storage box does NOT give it a nice and complete finish/look. It gives an impression that something is missing to complete the factory look and set-up.

The lower storage compartment would have to be covered in some way to make things look a bit nicer and I have tried separating the factory lid from the centre arm-rest to see if it will fit just by itself but it didn't. You may able to use a black plastic lid of some sort and attach it using Velcro to cover the lower storage box.

After I completed this testing, I have decided to keep the small type arm-rests and will offer the large arm-rest for sale soon.

Re: Centre Arm Rest

Project Arm-rests is now complete!

This morning I finished off the installation of the arm-rests and solved the problem of the exposed storage box. It looks awesome indeed and what a difference it makes to driving comfort where both the passenger and driver can use the arm-rest and make real good use out of it (unlike the factory useless one which sits far too low)

I found a hard plastic black folder which I cut to size and used it as a lid to cover the storage box with Velcro. Works quite well and matches the black leather.

This time I cut holes in my leather seats emoticon but as explained earlier, the final finish is very professional and looks like a factory fit.

Re: Centre Arm Rest

Hi Jalal,

Would you have the details of this Swedish company who supplied the slim centre rests? Also, do you mind me asking how much they cost?

Send me a PM Alan. The pricing I got was "special" pricing due to them being test fitted by myself, so you better approach them for pricing directly from your end for retail.

Hi Michael,

Pics fixed. I don't know if the company is still producing these or not, I haven't contacted them for almost 2 years now.

Re: Centre Arm Rest

Mike,

I had one of them before fitting these arm-rest and I can confirm it's higher than the one you have now and also a bit longer and has multiple compartments.

Before you go searching for one, I'd like to tell you how much I paid for it emoticon

It cost me over $350.00AUD to order from Nissan Japan. It's called Multi-centre console if you wanna Google it.

P.S. I sold mine.
