I believe it's only the petrol engine that gets the CVT, the diesel (110kw) has a 6 speed auto box. As for towing figures the German (but must be Europe wide) model is allowed to tow 1350kgs only in either CVT or 6 speed auto. But beware that the Europeans aren't allowed to tow as much as we are here with the series I and II though, figures for the auto box were 1500Kgs. Maybe one of the UK members can dig this out of their manual?

EDIT: We haven't got it that bad, I just found the Nissan X-Trail manual for Canada. They are allowed to tow a whopping 907Kgs. That must be two thirds of the empty vehicle weight.

A guy I work with has ordered a new X Trail, he currently has a 2006 ST with the standard factory accessories: Nudge Bar, Rear Wing, Tow Bar, Floor Mats.

He picked it up for $31,990 on road (inc. trade on his current exy). The dealer has told him to expect delivery around late October early november however as there is a large number of pre orders in Australia it may be even later than that.

I have already told him he has to join the forum now as everyone will have plenty of questions.

Doesn't seem like he got much for his 2006 ST.
Sounds like he should have sold it privately and bought the new Xtrail without a trade-in.

So $31,990 on-road (incl. $22,000 trade-in) makes normal on-road cost of $53,990 emoticon

Are you sure ?
Or should it be $31,990 LESS $22,000 trade-in for a change-over cost of $9,990 ?
