Re: So, who will be the first to up-grade?

Hi BigAl,
This was the case with the micra that you could not tow anything and not just that it had a low GVM. From memory you were hard pressed to fit four adults weight wise in the veh but you could legally carry five

Re: So, who will be the first to up-grade?

I was told that the release date for the new Exy to the dealers is October5, and they are not very happy about this low towing weight for the auto, as they sell a lot of Exys to older people like myself who tow Caravans.Im not impressed with this CVT trans, as all vehicles fitted with it have low tow weights. My Sons new Mitsubishi Outlander has a tow capacity of 1600kg. Nissan seems to be going backwards. They have an excellent product in the current Exy, but they seem to lose the plot.

I doubt that because it will be revealed for the first time in Australia at the Sydney International Motor Show which starts on the 11th of October and the new exy will not go on sale until November this year.

Most of the dealers are just guessing at this stage as to what features and capabilities of new xtrail will include, so I wouldn't be surprised if they got it wrong in regards to the towing capacity.

The new exy is heavier than the current model and has the same power ratio as the 2006 and up models (with dual cat. converters) so I can't see a reason why the towing capacity will drop.

The dealer I spoke to has already been told that the Manual version will retain the 2000kg towing cap. but the auto will be 1350kg. The dealers are getting a look before the Motor Show.

Yes Al, they're getting a look well before the motor show indeed, in fact it is already here in Australia, but they will only get their stock in November.
