Removing Decals

Hello all

Did a search but I wasn't able to find any info. I have a ST-S and am wondering if anyone has removed the stickers on the lower right hand sid eof the tailgate. And if you have, how did you do it, did you scratch the car?

Thanks

Matt

Re: Removing Decals

Easy Matt emoticon

I don't have much hair left, so I bought myself a hair dryer just for this purpose LOL emoticon

Just blow hot air onto the surface where the decal is and peel it off, it won't leave any marks whatsoever.

This method is also very handy to use with registration stickers and even badges and it hasn't failed me once.

The good thing about using this method with plastic badges, is that you will be able to re-use them again in the future if you want to.

Re: Removing Decals

I have just given a mate do his (Monaro) and we used a standard hair dryer and fishing line. Just heat up the sticker/decal and then slide the line between the sticker and panel. Finish this will eucalyptus oil to get rid of the resin. Simple. Easy. emoticon

Re: Removing Decals

Ok...This be an old post, but I do have some sure-fire methods of removing decals successfully without leaving damage. *NEVER USE STEEL BLADES OR SCRAPERS*
Finger nail is the best. I use rubbing alcohol diluted if need be with water if your a worry wort.
Tree sap is no match for rubbing alcohol as well. It's almost the only thing that works.
On glass it will never harm strait up. But the best is squeezing the outside peel of an orange.
This stuff will remove anything! It will leave no damage and your x-trail will smell good too!
Ok......it's a secret about the orange peel method. Don't tell anyone!

By memory its called 'Orange Cleen', great for removing grease and oil from your hands as well.

Thread moved to the Care Care section where the "orange" flavor is more appropriate LOL emoticon

Removing the dreaded my family stickers

So I just bought my exy and am now stuck with someones family on the back. I managed to get off the male sticker he was plastic but the rest of his family wont budge and now it looks like im a sporty female with a baby and 2 dogs. The rest look like they are paper not plastic stickers. Any suggestions?

I tried getting insurance to cover it but they were going to write it off.

Re:

Buy a 4WD sticker and make it look like it's running over the family stickers. he he.

Are the stickers on the window or the paint?
If on the window, easy, just use a sharp razor blade.
If on the paint try turps or a solvent like acetone. Careful with the solvents cause excess rubbing could take the paint off.

Re:

Regardless if the stickers are on the glass (easier to remove) or paint (which is a stupid place to stick them), I suggest you use a hair dryer on each of the stubborn stickers and heat them up enough for the glue to become soft and then start peeling each of the stickers individually.

I think I mentioned this method in the this thread already emoticon

Re: Removing Decals

If the stickers are on the paint then organise one of the mobile paint repair vans to come around when you remove the stickers by whatever means you need to (acetone, turps, scraper, wet&dry sandpaper) and then get them to touch-up the paint finish.
Very cheap for a single panel.
