From the photos it's just one, but some people seem to be talking as well about requiring another one on the bottom? I've ordered a new blower motor (just in case, it was only $32) and one ball bearing, as well as I bought some 8mm washers. Will this be enough or I need an extra ball bearing for the bottom of the motor?nondisclosed_email@example.com (Dargus)Fri, 20 Oct 2023 20:39:18 +0000 Re: T30 Blower Fan (noises and relay replacement)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2098154,from=rss#post2098154https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2098154,from=rss#post2098154Good on ya @Jimbr, that sounds like a good effort for an early morning walk. I hope you've done well and I'm sure anyone reading this will be making good wishes for your 2021. We had the Exy detailed the other day and ever since, the air con has made a humming sound which changes pitch with the speed of the fan. I checked and cleared the pollen filter, no change. It sounds like it's the fan bearing but no idea how it could be after a detail. The noise is coming from the drivers side. I am pleased with the result however the rest of the week could have been better. Probably dehydrated myself it was a hot day had a migraine for the next two days was feeling better yesterday Friday got up early before six to take the dog for a walk before the heat of the the day it was a long walk and he is also an old codger now on our way back still about 1.5kM from home I tripped on the broken footpath and made a very nasty mess of my head . I have stitches above the eye the rest they had to trim the torn skin back . My skin now is like tissue paper . Also the knee took a hit and I sprained a finger. Not a bad effort all before 7:30 am . So I had to hobble home with blood running down my face for the rest of the way home. My right eye is half closed and I have a very black eye. Feeling a bit sorry for myself sitting back in my chair . The way I am going I will end up with an electric car, one of those with the red flag on the back and the shopping basket up front. I guess I will come good in a few days unfortunatley I have a busy weekend and can't sit here much longer feeling sorry for myself which is just as well. If it's any consolation, I don't know many mechanics who like the idea of doing anything in the dash very much so even if you have an honest one you're unlikely to get an honest quote! Not much choice for many of us other than DIY. Come round to my place next time with a 6-pack to ensure we maintain the rage. I'm a glutton for punishment and have done some shockers, so nothing scares me any more. Luckily my fingers can still get into the tight spots but TBH the trick in most cases is mostly the right little tool and having a spine you can dislocate in 15 places! Thank you for your reply. Well I bit the bullet today and replaced the blower motor. The one I got from the wreckers seemed to be ok . I have ordered another motor and resistor for the speed control but they did not arrive in my impatient time zone. What a pig of a job of an old codger to tackle . Oldcodgertitus setting in. Not technically difficult just painfully awarkwrd I found getting off the connectors difficult to release the locking tabs with my hands which are not very strong and I have the shakes very badly in my hands the rest of me is ok just my hands . I found replacing the middle screw which is on the right hand side almost impossible battled with it for more than an hour . I did eventually get it in . The other annoying bit was I got it all in but trapped the wiring for the motor and the speed control resistors behind the unit and had to take it all out again. Some of you as indicated on the forum that you were done and finished in about 3 hours he took me 7 hours . Anyway the result is it is good , can now turn to the right without a horrible noise coming out of the fan housing . I am sure if I have to do it a second time down the track it will be quicker, not that I ever want to comptemplate that. I guess if you are in the senior age group and can afford to have it replaced by someone it might be a consideration if you can find someone honest that you can trust. Did I enjoy this, definitely NOT! I was worried about setting off the Passanger side air bag however it survived . I hope this may help someone else. Kind Regards Jim Braddock. I too am now in my 70s and would also be hesitant as you are to tackle such tasks. I'm sure that someone on this forum will be able to provide the right advice to help alleviate some of your concerns. I have the T31 so can't comment on your T30 issues but if I had fan blower noises I would probably attempt to have a go to fix myself...of course with guidance from fellow forum members and previous posts. I do have a slight RHS CV joint shudder on my T31 and am still considering having a go and replacing that myself. There are many good posts on "how to do it" but like you, I am still a bit hesitant. Any way, only a slight shudder at take off but smooth the rest of the time. Cheers and good luck with your blowe fan replacement. nondisclosed_email@example.com (dlpeek)Tue, 13 Oct 2020 06:10:19 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2098015,from=rss#post2098015https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2098015,from=rss#post2098015Hello again from Jim . I know this won't get much approval.I bought a complete assembly from the wreckers with the intention of fitting a new motor then doing a quick swap over. However the one I bought I removed the bottom section and cleaned up the housing and removed the cowl and gave it a good clean. I cannot detect any sideways movement on the motor shaft even when the cowl was refitted there is very slight end float I powered it up on the bench and it runs smoothly I have tipped it upside down and sideways tapping it as well and there are no noises coming from the motor I think the motor may have been replaced at some point because there was evidence of it been apart before. So tomorrow I am going to try and fit this as it is .I will use my upper housing mated to this bottom section. The top housing section has a rod missing from it so that is why Inwill mate my upper housing . Do any rods have to be disconnected when removing this unit. I am still very nervous about doing this. I guess I am concerned about setting off the air bag . I never use to think twice about doing jobs on cars now I am over 70'it worries me. I can't say I am looking forward to doing it . I used to do all my own mechanical stuff but now I have lost all my confidence. If I can get another unit from the wreckers for a low price I might buy it. Not thinking of fitting it but I can at least look at it and be confident where all the fixings are and maybe pull that one apart and fit the new bearings leaving my car intact while doing it. I changed tablets and yes it opens on a Android tablet. I was using an old Ipad 2 I guess it is a bit obsolete like me. However I did not find it very helpful. I have ordered another motor. When it comes I will have a go then do up the old motor. As I have gotten older I have lost all my self confidence. When I was younger I would have just got stuck into it. I did not want to bother any of you however I have the same blower fan bearing issue on my 2007 T30 STS. page 8 gave a photo bucket i366 .I was not able to open this. Basically I do not wish to be a pain. Do I have to remove the ECU to gain access for the removal of the blower fan motor assembly ? I do not want to disturb anything more than necessary. Following some thoughts on this topic I removed the lower glovebox and bottom panel the removed a plastic cover which enabled me to see the fan blade assembly it is definitely a bearing problem. There were no leaves and twigs in there . Again I apologise for rehashing this long thread, I just don't want to make any mistakes or spend more time than necessary crawling about on me knees under the dash board . I am over 70'and find this stuff painfull, I just want to get in done. Firstly, thanks for all the info on the Resister, solved my problem with a lack of speeds 1-3 not working....but there's something else I've been searching all over for, and can't seem to find. Two of the selectors on the actual ac dash unit (knobs, handles - whatever you want to call them!) have broken off, and I think I've glued them back on enough times to realize I should probably just replace the unit! Trouble is, I can't find mention of the replacement part, for the ST (non "climate control" version) anywhere on the net. Does someone know the part number for this, and could anyone give me more information about what replacing it would involve? Any advice would be great! nondisclosed_email@example.com (ClarkeyMate)Thu, 17 May 2018 12:43:16 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2095556,from=rss#post2095556https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2095556,from=rss#post2095556Yep, it's the removal of the retaining clips.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Thu, 12 Apr 2018 06:14:27 +0000 Re: blower fan bearing replacementhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2095553,from=rss#post2095553https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2095553,from=rss#post2095553Finally got the blower housing out, but can you elaborate on what this picture is telling you to do? The questions seem to be around the climate control models of my vehicle. All I have is just the standard heat/ac controls. My unit is under the dash but it does not seem to match the diagrams......there are no clips....just plastic snap lugs and screws and bolts way up under the dash. I too dont have the mobility to get in under to remove the housing unit and I see it is difficult to do. What I need is a link for a new motor for my vehicle which wont take 4 weeks. My wife needs the cart to be fixed as its dangerous her driving in early morning cold with fogged up widndscreen.....motor is seized. Can anyone link me to a local site or Repco or someone who sells new units for a reasonable price. Nissan said they would install it for around $200 bucks. PS - in order not to frustrate searchers it may pay to split this thread into resistor issues and motor issues......I found it very frustrating reading through alot of stuff that wasnt my issue.nondisclosed_email@example.com (didlysquat)Fri, 03 Mar 2017 05:44:00 +0000
